Tesla has created a new series of battery cell 4680 to replace the current gen battery,in fact Panasonic has already produced a prototype ahead of mass production. Any chance it can come to ebikes soon?

The answer is now. DJI just released their FP700 battery with a custom 4680 cell, It's configured like an old school D battery flashlight. Just 10 cells stacked in alignment no soldering cells required.

thanks, that does sound cool

It looks pretty cool. There's an updated version of the Amflow built around it and an Atherton bike. The downtube is nice and slim. According to DJI it has performance advantages as well. But it sounds like it adds to the cost. 700 wh capacity is an issue as well. Hard to say if we'll see more brands making them. Solid state batteries are still probably 5 years away. The high capacity 21700 cells still appear to be best bang for the buck.
