Snapped this on way to runway so apologies for poor picture but this plane caught my eye and was wondering if anyone had any more information.

AN-12 CAVOK airlines out of Ukraine
Cautious_Use_7442@reddit
Yeah. Very loud. Definitely more noticeable than your garden variety Boeing or Airbus

It’s ‘woke me up at 2 AM, can’t believe it’s at FL 250’ loud, but kinda cool since that was the first time I heard one in person.

One came in at my local airport a few months ago, it was at 1,200ft, I thought my windows would break.

My grandma's house was directly under the runway approach from/to a Soviet airport. An An-12 was one of the more exciting planes to watch passing overhead, especially if they took off low for some reason. The noise, the smoke trails are something else.

Those planes are not certified by EASA, yet they fly every night cargo all over Europe cause they’re dirt cheap. Of course they are they’re not certified per western standard.
cvnh@reddit
They're from the time when there was no noise certification standards. Turboprops from that time were not even the worst offenders, low bypass turbofans were even noisier. The flip side of the noisy propellers was that they were extremely efficient for their time, even nowadays it is hard to beat the efficiency numbers they used the get back then.

It’s cool until they have a weekly route that overflies your home (at 24000, around 1am, I had that for about a year)

Do you perchance live in The Netherlands?
agha0013@reddit
No. I'm sure you get them more there. I live in Ottawa and it's maybe once every month or so one flies over.

That's so cool, thank you for your information :)

Plane to transport international government figures

I occasionally hear the low drone of an AN12 flying over, look it up on adsb and it's 50 or 60 miles away.
-TheKeegs_@reddit
Cavok Air AN12. It passes over Liverpool most day on its way to Belfast, I don’t need to look it up on flight radar as it’s so loud you know instantly what it is.
Odd-Reach-1518@reddit
Yes, it comes over my house in the East Midlands weekly, flying to Belfast from Ankara.
Rude-Leader-5665@reddit
It went over today. I'm in south wirral. I heard it. Looked on flight radar. It was over Bootle
bruhtp04@reddit

WKTFSeaweed@reddit
One flies into Belfast pretty regularly every week.

Saw her at KIAH (Texas,USA) back in 2017. Indeed a world traveler.
Clem573@reddit
Man, at the speed that thing flies, I’m surprised it would have gone from Texas to Belfast in just 8 years !

Ah, my favourite game when I hear a deep rumble coming from the sky - Antonov or Hercules?
Puzzleheaded_Gold698@reddit
Noisiest and dirtiest plane in the skies. If you're ever lost just look up or listen out for its exhaust fumes and follow them to the nearest airfield.

Yes, I have information on this plane: That bad boy is loud as f*ck.

Reminds me of a plane those special forces green berets jump out of.
_Yellow_13@reddit
Omg. That’s funny.
I took a picture of her yesterday too!
