What really carried it was that it was a couch coop game and around that time the only other games that you could play local coop were left for dead and halo.
The problem witb the games as a whole is they never really did anything innovative after that. They just keep pushing out the same game, adding a few new enemies and a mechanic or two.

True. I love Borderlands 3 and The Pre-sequel and will always defend them as good games, but even I can recognize that they're glorified DLC.
I couldnt get through 2 was just to clunky to get invested in anything when I have to worry about my guns not gunning, in 3 I felt like they had any thought in their head about gameplay and made most of the guns controllable. Maybe I just needed to get deeper into 2, but like the starting gun is so bad, and nothing improves until I'm guessing purples
I've never cared for the story, but I've played hours of the game sitting with my friends because there aren't really other local co-op looter shooters out there
I will never forgive him for what he did to Duke and if I could sacrifice every Borderlands game on an altar for a single good DN game I would not hesitate to do it
Pitchford is clearly a dude who was bullied a lot, and then grew up to be a meat-head who bullied people in the same way. You can tell, all the shit he gets in is always "feeble revenge" stuff. Not the sort of guy who'd spank a secretary, but he would spit in her glass and watch her drink it.
When he wins, he gloats. When he loses, he sulks. No better slave, no worst master.
Basically "Ricky Gervais" type of character, except it's not a character with him.
Honestly the best thing Randy can do whenever a new title is on the way is handing his twitter login to a marketing intern. The dude spergs out every damn time instead of just letting people play the damn thing.

Still mad about Alien: Colonial Marines. Trailer was a straight up scam.

+ I feel like the 2's first levels are so clunky and not enjoyable

Well put

They also managed to fluke themselves into an amazing villain with Handsome Jack and have trying to recapture that since then.
BanzaiKen@reddit
Handsome Jack is Randy Pitchford with a mask.

Borderlands 1 was good, borderlands 2 was great, aaaaaand somehow they lost the plot and now we’re here.

Mid at best.
Always found it super cringe and overrated.

How can someone whose company has only released one not critically-panned video game series act like this and not be sacked.
wha1esharky@reddit
My understanding is that he majority owns the company. So he would need to fire himself.

Oh a content creator is covering leaks and rumors and generating hype for my upcoming game. Better send fucking goons to his house to harass him!

I dunno, if anything he's probably faced the same kind of bullying Elon had: got his ass kicked because he made fun of someone's dead mother.

Love the BL games. Spent way too much time in all of them over the years.
Randy has always been a jackass though.
