Season 1 was so good the standard was over the roof for the writers to match it with S2. I don't think it was bad it was IMO more the fact that it kind of became predictable with a lot of things so it didn't hit as hard as the drama in S1. That's why the first part of S2 was my favourite, because it was more grounded and a direct continuation to S1
Aand there was of course the pacing too. The first three episodes of S2 were pretty much most definitely already planned since S1 (Vi Jinx fight, "Had to be you" voiceline going back to 2021), which made S2 kinda in a way only 6 episodes. They could've really used a 3rd season
not official info but there are rumors there were supossed to be more seasons but riot said no and just wanted writers to connect the show lore to the game one asap
That can't be the case because Arcane specifically fucks up multiple connections to the game. Viktor becomes a cosmic twink, and Warwick just fucking dies.

I just wish they did deliver on the premise of the class war shit more vs having things end happily with vi and Caitlyn
I liked a lot of the visuals and shit with viktor but that could be a tease at the end or the series for w future project if they wanted to return to the city vs the main threat
Ruined your character for tourists who didn't stay and then they're trying to say sorry with the Machine Herald Viktor skin... but it's still on his fuckass anorexic Ozempic taking rig so it looks off in game.
And the fact that you have to PAY for the original design unless you got Mastery on him just adds salt to the wound. I have almost exclusively played bots, where you can't earn Mastery, for over a decade, so I am shit out of luck for getting the good design again unless I pony up RP.
Don’t get why they had to do an arcane multi verse version of him when a hextech/chemtech combination body viktor would’ve fit right in to the plot anyways
I never liked Viktor but so much of the fun of Arcane was seeing how these characters were going to become the versions of them in League of Legends, and then season 2 just basically said fuck you and threw that away in favour of completely different versions of them.
What even is the point of taking existing characters and mangling like they did to Viktor and Warwick? Just come up with some new shit then. Like, Warwick is just straight up dead as well, and even if League isn't canon, the stories of these characters was. Warwick canonically isn't dead, and I didn't want Arcane to be some AU shit.
Honestly that itself pissed me off. I mean I get why they did it (money), but damn we were literally going to see the backstory of why Vi/Jinx became estranged sisters who want to kill each other on sight. We were going to see how Singed became such a madman. We were going to see how Viktor turned into essentially a robot.
And all of this was literally setup from the getgo too. Viktor had a cold and was dying - so he was going to give himself a new body. Vi got pissed at Jinx for getting Vander killed (and other things). Singed...I don't know actually what that creepy dude's deal was. He just loved being a chemist I guess? It was weird. But he never turned into madman singed lol.
And then they just...threw it out? In favor of making a new champ and some new skins (which they gave out for free anyway it looks like).
Arcane 100% turned into some AU and it's annoying. But half of league is at this point...
I get that his model was old and needing a rework but making that rework more in the spirit of the new arcane lore and design vs an update of the old one feels off
Season 2 was shit because it needed to be 2 seasons. They tried to compensate for this by stuffing it full of shipping fanservice and they only made it even worse
i just think its sad that many characters from those regions got shafted from even having a shoutout, but at least we got some stupid ass lesbian situationship shit haha
From what I understand the show didn't do as well financially as hoped and wasn't approved for season 3, so the writers were in a tough spot to wrap up the characters the way they intended.
i just want to say that i really like viktor design in season 2. I know they basically deleted old viktor but i dont really think old viktor is that interesting to begin with. All the people in the city has some form of augmemtation to their body and even one of the counsellor member are just striaght up a cyborg. The arcane herald stuff is way kore interesting than just cyborg man ver.1.23244433.
imo they kinda lost the plot of the whole undercity vs topside thing and instead went all on in this multiversal war vs a god (thats not considering how much of the show was changed/forced to be a certain way in order to try and sell league skins)
I would say I liked it but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't disappointed. Season 2 felt like they condensed two seasons into one. Animation, voice acting and music still as good as season 1 imo, but the pacing really crippled it.
Anon isn't wrong. S1 spent the entire time setting up Piltover vs Zaun juxtaposed through the sisters, S2 sweeps it away in a musical montage and focuses on shipping and multiversal garbage. The downfall in terms of writing is generational.
You can see how bad it is by the fact that Jinx and Vi barely even interact in the final act. And don't get me started on them refusing to kill anyone because they want to keep milking the characters ad infinitum.
Masterful animation and soundtrack, absolute dumpster tier writing.
I think people (including me) are just completely done with the multiversal bullshit. No one wants their story invalidated because "muh, millions same copies BUT DIFFERENT"
I really get thr fatigue with multiverse shit but like
There's so many issues with s2 and the happy multiverse timeline for me was probably the highlight of the latter half of s2 just for showing how miserable the current day is
Compared to like viktor being crammed into s2 and completely erasing the class war shit and vi and cat having a happy ending with cat being fine with jinx living its honestly one of the better things
It isn’t strictly about a class struggle. Yeah, that’s what’s happening on the screen, but the whole point of that plotline is in personal relationships and how love and connection overcome the trauma of violence and conflict.
I think the biggest issue was that everything felt rushed and the character arcs weren't given enough time to breathe. They didn't even succeed in entirely connecting the plot to LoL lore.
If the objective was for the characters to end as their in-game versions, keep Cait being bloodthirsty. She loses her moral integrity and compassion for the people of Zaun and is blinded by hatred at what she perceives is the place that took her mother.
Make Vi and Cait fight for longer. Vi is from Zaun, she wouldn't become an enforcer overnight and abandon years of hating them so quickly. Separate them and spend time actually showing Vis' struggle instead of shoving her in a montage.
Make Jinx even more insane. The point of the climax of season 1 is that she abandoned Powder and fully embraced becoming Jinx. Make her go off the deep end instead of trying to redeem her. Her insane actions will be what pushes Vi to fight against her and join Caitlyn eventually. I liked that she became a revolutionary icon for Zaun, keep that.
Ngl I do not like the Viktor storyline. It completely loses the essence of what Arcane was about. But if we recontextualize it as "Piltover and Zaun are both under threat from an outside force" it could still work. Making Viktor and Ambessa work together was the correct move, it makes sense for their characters and pushes Piltover and Zaun to fight against a common enemy. The difference would be that they are fighting separately, not shown to stand as a united front. Perhaps Zaun takes advantage of the chaos of the Noxian invasion to try to take over Piltover or force their hand.
After Ambessa and Viktor are defeated, THEN is where the Vi vs Jinx fight happens. Despite having fought a common enemy, they cannot reconcile their differences, and by this point Vi would be more enforcer-pilled and would want Jinx to answer for her crimes. Neither of them really win, and Zaun retreats from Piltover. After the Noxian invasion, Piltover doesn't have the resources to keep control of the Undercity anymore, so it declares independence.
You could honestly probably do away with the Noxus and Viktor storylines or reestructure them into something better, but I tried to accommodate them as best I could. With this reframing, the themes remain the class struggle represented through the two sisters; a tired underclass revolting against their oppressors, the oppressors moving to more and more authoritarian means to keep control (Caitlyn's dictatorship) and even class traitors (Vi). And you also set up the characters to be like their ingame counterparts. Though honestly I think it's best if it keeps being an alternate universe, but whatever.
Multiverse in a story exists so that the writers don't have to contend with actually killing off characters.
That's all there is to it. I have not seen a good multiverse concept executed for decades.
I can understand fatigue with the multiverse shit but I thought that it was done well in arcane or at least wasn't an issue by far to me
It actually even leans on the class war shit I liked a lot from s1 and makes the current reality infinitely more fucked just by virtue of a happy timeline existing
Viktor being crammed in and the vi and cat getting a happy ending or cat being okay with knowing jinx lived is way more of an issue to me than something like that
Vi goes from being the main character in S1 to doing nothing in S2. All she does is join cait's team, throw poison gas at poor people (high level character assassination) and fight Jinx, ALL in the first 2/3 episodes. After that she has no meaningful dialogues or actions in the show.
Mfs acting like season 2 was absolute slop. Worse then season 1? Sure. 1/10 garbage? Nah. The main problem is obviously the pacing but both animation and music were still top notch
I feel like Heimerdinger played such a large role in season 1, then in season 2 he just kind of barely had any relevance then >!died and handed the reins over to Ekko. !<
I stopped watching S2 after episode 2. Ep 1 was horrendous but I needed to make sure because I had been waiting so long. Every character is as flat as paper and cliche af. Every scene looks to be pulled from a trailer, all glam - no substance.
They hired an entire team to write lore for League characters in 2015 and had an entire website up that had lore for every location on Runeterra and every champion related to those locations.

Just like any game lore what are you waffling about you had a bunch of people very fascinated by the old lore multiple regions interacting with each other large maps over 140 short story many more long stories multiple cinematic etc etc. Literally so much content yes the game was made first but that doesnt mean its worthless. Imagine if the gameplay is shit in a story game then that game is irrelevant one of the reason lol is so popular is because it did everything right.
Gotta be hard to be unemployed and stating lies on the internet everyday for no reason. You still have nothing better than fortnite bad as an argument. Go outside bro you need it
Try not to mention fortnite challenge impossible, its literally not just because you mentionned the only thing similar to it doesnt mean its equal fps looter shooter to moba like bro at that point its close to tetris because tetris has color just like league. Waiter waiter more argument please
You literally just said triggered much stop trying to play the toxic card what are you doing with ur life bro stop doing 180 every 2 message you should be the one touching grass stop saying obviously wrong things on reddit just to get all mad when what you said turned out wrong. You are a joke lol
League's lore predated Arcane. Riot tore up their lore and retconned it all to make Arcane canon. With Arcane's story most of Piltover and Zaun's champions no longer have any story.
Originally it was Camille's family that were the proprietors of the crystals that powered Hextech and she was one of the few people that knew and guarded Hextech's actual secret in that the crystals were living beings.
Due to Arcane she cannot exist and Riot has retconned it out of the game, which has repercussions for every Piltover/Zaun champion that did not appear in Arcane.
The fanservice was for people who are very active on social media so it makes it seems like a lot of people liked it.
season 1's story was ok but the animation carried it. S2's story and characters were so bad that nothing could save it. I stopped watching after like 6 episodes and even that was a chore.
And that makes it "ok" as in average(at least imo). it didn't have any characters that someone would remember 3-4 or 5 years later. any twists that you would remember. nothing stood out in the story or characters for me(well there was that one guy... the guy that "adopted" jinx? that guy was a bit interesting )
the only thing that makes people remember Arcane is the animation because it was very good and above average.
so to answer your question, I'd try to add some of the things that I mentioned. But it's easier said than done. that's why good stories are very rare.
first episodes of season 2 were great the second half was just pure cuckoldry and i just seethed watching this dogshit show ruin the lore i already liked.
the biggest strength of season 1 was not being written and shot like an ad/epic fighting cinematic for league. season 2 on the other hand does this on every level. one of the most interesting non champion characters is written out of the plot to justify her inclusion in the league champion roster and set up another series. just goes to show that the writing decisions for s2 weren’t for the sake of the show itself being good anymore
I feel like S2 needed to be two different seasons. The pace was going at lightspeed; blink, and you miss a lot of the plot. Only S2E7 had a pace similar to S1. The story is good, but they crammed too much of it into a single season.
I hope they learn their lesson for the future series.
As a standalone season 2 was really good, but when you compare it to season 1 it's definitely the weaker of the two seasons. But it was still pretty good. I wish that they had made 3 seasons instead. I would have loved them to have kept the scale small still for the second season focusing on Viktor's story and then had all the large scale stuff for the third season. Then again if we are talking about make believe scenarios I would have liked 19 seasons injected directly into my blood stream.
I loved season 1, it had great pacing especially regarding the political conflicts imo. I think I lost interest in the show like 2 episodes into s2 and after looking up plot summaries for the rest of s2, I was glad I didn't keep watching.
Arcane season 2 was like a slow motion car crash. The first few episodes remind you what you loved about season 1, then the back half rips it all away for really no reason
Season 2 had few problems while still retaining very impressive visuals. However. If you look at it from the beginning and all the way through it fits and everything was foreshadowed long before it came out
Macqt@reddit
To be fair, I forgot about season 2 right after I finished it. Season 1 on the other hand was phenomenal.

Arcanre is a good show (season 1 at least) because of a good story, not because of successfull game.
xef234@reddit
Just like any game lore what are you waffling about you had a bunch of people very fascinated by the old lore multiple regions interacting with each other large maps over 140 short story many more long stories multiple cinematic etc etc. Literally so much content yes the game was made first but that doesnt mean its worthless. Imagine if the gameplay is shit in a story game then that game is irrelevant one of the reason lol is so popular is because it did everything right.
NorthKoreanKnuckles@reddit
The "lore" is not part of the equation.
why popular?
.>free to play .>colourfull .>basic gameplay .>released on the hype of other games .>buzed among kids .>be fortnite. .>Pic unrelated.
xef234@reddit
Where argument lil bro and btw for the first 6 year of the game it wasnt colorful in the slightest and the people playing was old wow3 nerds
NorthKoreanKnuckles@reddit
In my message bro. Don't be toxic, we are not playing LoL.
xef234@reddit
Gotta be hard to be unemployed and stating lies on the internet everyday for no reason. You still have nothing better than fortnite bad as an argument. Go outside bro you need it
NorthKoreanKnuckles@reddit
U can cope that your favorite game is closer of fortnite than you thought?
xef234@reddit
Try not to mention fortnite challenge impossible, its literally not just because you mentionned the only thing similar to it doesnt mean its equal fps looter shooter to moba like bro at that point its close to tetris because tetris has color just like league. Waiter waiter more argument please
NorthKoreanKnuckles@reddit
Triggered much?
xef234@reddit
You dont have to pretend that u were ragebaiting all along for ego reason its ok to be wrong :)
NorthKoreanKnuckles@reddit
We are not in LoL, you don't need to be toxic and lose your friend. Take a shower and touch grass.
xef234@reddit
You literally just said triggered much stop trying to play the toxic card what are you doing with ur life bro stop doing 180 every 2 message you should be the one touching grass stop saying obviously wrong things on reddit just to get all mad when what you said turned out wrong. You are a joke lol
Kornik-kun@reddit
Do you know anything about the lore?
NorthKoreanKnuckles@reddit
I know people who defend retail WoW lore.
Kornik-kun@reddit
I dont know jackshit about WoW lore what is your point about LoL lore
NorthKoreanKnuckles@reddit
The key words is desilusion.
Kornik-kun@reddit
Tell me what is your specific problem bro
NorthKoreanKnuckles@reddit
LoL is a shitty game with a shitty lore.
Arcane is a good show that shouldn't be splashed by shit.
Kornik-kun@reddit
literally no argument there, when you say its shit it doesn't magicly turn shit
NorthKoreanKnuckles@reddit
I made you a list of 7 arguments why LoL was successfull and not the lore, not my fault you can't read bro.
6bigdolphins@reddit
There are literal side stories and stuff broski I'm not talking about in game role
DarthVeigar_@reddit
League's lore predated Arcane. Riot tore up their lore and retconned it all to make Arcane canon. With Arcane's story most of Piltover and Zaun's champions no longer have any story.
Originally it was Camille's family that were the proprietors of the crystals that powered Hextech and she was one of the few people that knew and guarded Hextech's actual secret in that the crystals were living beings.
Due to Arcane she cannot exist and Riot has retconned it out of the game, which has repercussions for every Piltover/Zaun champion that did not appear in Arcane.
NorthKoreanKnuckles@reddit
Even the richest stories fade when no ears bother to hear them.
Grenyn@reddit
I wish that true to your username you were North Korean so you wouldn't have access to the internet to post this nonsense.
StarSpliter@reddit
Previously argued with someone who said "S2 is not bad you just dont know the lore". God damn that stupidity pissed me off.
D0GAMA1@reddit
The fanservice was for people who are very active on social media so it makes it seems like a lot of people liked it.
season 1's story was ok but the animation carried it. S2's story and characters were so bad that nothing could save it. I stopped watching after like 6 episodes and even that was a chore.
StarSpliter@reddit
Season 1's story was textbook grounded and well paced. What would you have changed?
D0GAMA1@reddit
And that makes it "ok" as in average(at least imo). it didn't have any characters that someone would remember 3-4 or 5 years later. any twists that you would remember. nothing stood out in the story or characters for me(well there was that one guy... the guy that "adopted" jinx? that guy was a bit interesting )
the only thing that makes people remember Arcane is the animation because it was very good and above average.
so to answer your question, I'd try to add some of the things that I mentioned. But it's easier said than done. that's why good stories are very rare.
Grenyn@reddit
Silco, who people do still remember fondly.
SilDaz@reddit
Been seeing a lot of hate for season 2 lately. Probably a psyop
OldKittyGG@reddit
Holy shit, did I watch a different show to everyone else?
somehuman16@reddit
first episodes of season 2 were great the second half was just pure cuckoldry and i just seethed watching this dogshit show ruin the lore i already liked.
trashcan___@reddit
the biggest strength of season 1 was not being written and shot like an ad/epic fighting cinematic for league. season 2 on the other hand does this on every level. one of the most interesting non champion characters is written out of the plot to justify her inclusion in the league champion roster and set up another series. just goes to show that the writing decisions for s2 weren’t for the sake of the show itself being good anymore
StarSpliter@reddit
Short-term greed ruining things as usual 🤑
PropheticUtterances@reddit
I have no idea what these people are saying
Naive_Drive@reddit
Le hecking multiverse was the best part of the show.
That and the sesbian lex.
And yeah, there was other cool moments but season 2 was definitely a downgrade.
Regret killing Silco so bad you basically have to bring him back.
forgettfulthinker@reddit
Its league of legends so its dogshit anyway
Laggiter97@reddit
I feel like S2 needed to be two different seasons. The pace was going at lightspeed; blink, and you miss a lot of the plot. Only S2E7 had a pace similar to S1. The story is good, but they crammed too much of it into a single season.
I hope they learn their lesson for the future series.
StaryWolf@reddit
Season 2 was fine. Season 1 was definitely better but people only call S2 bad because S1 put expectations into orbit, tale as old as time.
Granted the show honestly could have used a third season because there was a lot crammed into S2.
NorthKoreanKnuckles@reddit
Arcane died with Silco.
metro_fruitcake@reddit
Yes.
Nand-Monad-Nor@reddit
As a standalone season 2 was really good, but when you compare it to season 1 it's definitely the weaker of the two seasons. But it was still pretty good. I wish that they had made 3 seasons instead. I would have loved them to have kept the scale small still for the second season focusing on Viktor's story and then had all the large scale stuff for the third season. Then again if we are talking about make believe scenarios I would have liked 19 seasons injected directly into my blood stream.
FrazzleFlib@reddit
s2 is still very good imo but season 1 was absolutely better, largely due to silco imo
felemiah@reddit
I loved season 1, it had great pacing especially regarding the political conflicts imo. I think I lost interest in the show like 2 episodes into s2 and after looking up plot summaries for the rest of s2, I was glad I didn't keep watching.
LordOmbro@reddit
I refuse to watch anything made by riot games so i wouldn't know
Wiinterfang@reddit
Honestly the Powder episode does a LOT of heavy lifting making people like Jinx more even though she is a terrorist.
The season was ok, I've seen worse endings.
MadameConnard@reddit
Season 1 : Power to Jinx Season 2 : Isha-Jinx to Powder
Spiritual_Bus1125@reddit
Ok, the animation was factually worse (the 3d effect was way more pronounced) but that gets score for the animation from a 10 to a 9.5
Kornik-kun@reddit
Animation and character design was the only good part of it (and I still didn't like viktors final design)
Spiritual_Bus1125@reddit
I'm not saying that it was bad, it was just worse than s1
Kornik-kun@reddit
And i'm not disagreeing
Loonyclown@reddit
Arcane season 2 was like a slow motion car crash. The first few episodes remind you what you loved about season 1, then the back half rips it all away for really no reason
Arstanishe@reddit
ah, i see i was right on ditching it in the middle of s2ep1
NorthKoreanKnuckles@reddit
There are some good moments. But they are quite rare and the meh/wut moments outnumber them easly.
ItsAxeRDT@reddit
Cant lie I got so lost in season 2 I had no idea what was happening and why for the most part. It felt all over the place.
DoubleSpook@reddit
It wasn’t good at all. Such a waste.
Rex__Lapis@reddit
s1 was peak. I binged it. something I never do.
s2 was so trash I rolled my eyes constantly and quit after 2 episodes
DoctorPerverto@reddit
[filler music video montage]
ssalp@reddit
Loved s1, didn't even finish s2
dragonic25@reddit
I never liked Arcane, feels like nowadays LoL is a totally different game and the vibes are very different
mah_boiii@reddit
Season 2 had few problems while still retaining very impressive visuals. However. If you look at it from the beginning and all the way through it fits and everything was foreshadowed long before it came out
