Airport crew, post-security access worth it?

I'm a GSE mechanic at KPDX, just got my SIDA. The vast majority of amenities, restaurants, shops etc. are all past security now, and I'm wondering if it would be worth it to take a lunch break or two in the terminal building at some of those restaurants. Most of what's at KPDX can be found elsewhere in town, there aren't any exclusives or must-haves, but the prices aren't ridiculous because IIRC they aren't allowed to gouge.
Thoughts?

This isn’t actually a bad idea considering PDX is one of the airports that bans airport restaurants from having a surcharge

Willingly eating in an airport terminal is comical to me. Not sure why anyone would subject themselves to that shit.

Why would anyone ever eat in an airport terminal when they could eat on the outside?
Can you not drive to lunch from the hangar?
Honestly one of the worst things about being an airline pilot is having to eat that garbage even if only 8 times a month.

Typically I bring my own lunch anyways, and yes, there's plenty of food options nearby if I want to drive. I used to visit KPDX before the remodel a few years ago, and there were a lot more shops and food options pre-security then. It became kind of a fun hangout spot to go up to, because you can take light rail right to the terminal and save on parking, and it was always fun to go people watch. But now that the most interesting items before security are an art gallery and a beer garden, it's lost the magic for me, and I want to try to recapture some of that.

I dunno man, you'd have to hold a gun to my head to get to me voluntarily go to an airport.

And for me, growing up, the airport was one of the relatively few third spaces in Portland you didn't have to spend money to go to. Technically you do counting the cost of transportation, but in those days I had a transit pass from my school, or I would ride my motorcycle up there and not have to pay for parking. And it sucks that that third space is now basically gone.

Fair enough, I understand how the drudgery can get to you. I'm hoping to be able to hold on to my love of aviation despite making this a career, and hopefully the fact I'm not making piloting my career will help with that.

The food in the airport is fine I guess. It's also expensive. I wouldn't go through security to just eat food though lol. But that's me.
