What is the best local LLM to ask questions about homework, physics, biology, math, and school stuff?

Hello, I'm currently looking for an AI without internet for school for math, biology, chemistry, physics and things like that. Is there one that can answer things like, for example, asking what MUV and MUR are and that generates a 1-page essay for me?

Haha, new generation already adapts

You'll want a model that scores well on the MMLU-Pro benchmark.

I guess Gemma 3 or some variant of Mistral Nemo. Note though that an LLM can only answer you like an encyclopedia essentially, it cannot run calculations accurately. You might want to combine the model's knowledge with RAG.

No, go read a book.

Yea had it been for asking questions, explanations and diving into nuance that might not be in a textbook, sure I get that. OP telegraphed the real intent at the end. They just want to short circuit learning.
I guarantee this is because internet access is controlled and that’s why they want an offline one so they can have it do homework but also use it to cheat on exams.

What I'm really looking for isn't for the entire assignment to be done, but rather for it to clarify specific questions. For example, in English, if I wonder why tragedy used upper-class characters and comedy used ordinary or lower-class characters, an offline LLM can give me the explanation without me having to search through thousands of pages. That's different from cheating on an exam; it's more like having a teacher available all the time

When did you have a teacher write an essay for you again? I must have missed that part.

A teacher doesn't write essays for me, obviously. But they do explain how to structure them, what ideas to include, and how to argue. That's what I want from an offline model: to give me material to understand and put together, not to copy and paste. In the end, I'm the one who has to write it and answer the exam without help.
