Worth disclosing an MIP from 15 years ago?

Back when I was 17, I got a citation for a minor in possession (beer). There wasn’t an actual arrest, cop just wrote me a ticket and let me go.
I took the route that the court offered saying I could do probation, community service and some weekend classes and if completed, it would be dismissed. Or expunged? I’m not sure. This happened so long ago. It happened in Michigan if that changes anything.
Now at 32, I’m unsure about whether to disclose it to the FAA and AME. Would I be deferred/denied because of this?
I know this questions been asked a lot but haven’t seen any from over a decade old.
Should I just disclose it? Say I learned from it, there’s been no recurrences etc etc?

I’ve seen this question asked many times, in many places. Yes, you need to disclose it. Fifteen years ago and no recurrent issues, doubtful it’ll be a deal breaker. You’ll likely just have to provide the arrest report, a personal statement, and certified dmv abstract for any state where you’ve held a driver license.
And while I’m just sgoti, NAL or AME, technically a citation IS an arrest. They’re just releasing you on your promise to appear rather than taking you to the station for booking.

What does the question ask? If I remember correctly it asks have you ever been convicted of...a citation isn't a conviction...

It goes pretty in depth and says something along the lines of:
“Have you ever had an arrest, conviction, or administrative action involving alcohol/drugs, including attendance at an educational or rehabilitation program?”
I did do the educational weekend classes that were required by court so I suppose that falls under that umbrella.
Taylor_Pilot@reddit
Then yea, you have to disclose it...it is a federal document...
Ok-Selection4206@reddit
Unless you don't remember it...

Think of it this way: It is worded this way so you do not have to, nor get to, make the judgement about whether it is relevant. Because people with an abuse disorder should not get to make that call. Instead, your AME makes the call, or another doctor at the FAA. Makes sense that way, right?

It definitely makes sense, and I agree with you. Just terrified of getting denied or deferred because of something from so long ago that’s (to me) so unserious because I was a teenager. Though I don’t think it would go that far, hopefully?

I disclosed mine on the applications that asked specifically about any charges or citations( cant remember how it was phrased related to alcohol. some were explicitly written for convictions in the past 10 years and didnt disclose it on those because thats the truth. This was all on airline apps so not sure how its worded now on airlines’ individual app system. I think deltas wording i disclosed it, united and american i didnt have to. Got cjos from all of them and it was never brought up. I was ready to talk about it if asked.
I was 30 got it at 18 and did the same route. I called the court and they said after expungement the only record is the physical one at the courthouse. If your leaning one way id say disclose it and just be ready to talk about it as a mistake and learning/maturing point in your life to re focus whats important to you. At the same time if the question is black and white with a 10 year timeframe then no need.

Just saw this was a medical question. Guess i cant read lok. So dont listen to me.

Haha yes medical but I imagine I’ll also need to disclose it on apps.
Taylor_Pilot@reddit
He is talking about the documents to get a medical. I am pretty sure it asks about convictions...He said he got a citation (not a conviction) and had it dropped by doing community service and a course. It sounds like he was never convicted of anything.

Thank you for this!! Very similar situations.

Read the question carefully and answer it truthfully. End of story.
KCPilot17@reddit
Answer the question as it is asked. If it says "Have you EVER" then yes. If it says "In the last 5 years" then no.
Simply read it and answer accordingly.
