Liberty University?

Any opinions? Just got accepted for aviation/flight and heard about the curfew and stuff.. Not religious but heard their flight program is good. Also, the curfew and stuff is kinda throwing me off. Price/classes/other advise would be helpful. Thanks!

Im doing their online aviation management degree just to pad my resumé. Only did it because I was able to get it for a lot cheaper than other schools. They shoe horn evangelical rhetoric into everything, even stem related subjects, so if you can handle the 24/7 religious onslaught great otherwise I think youre gonna have a bad time.

Run away. Run far away.

Maybe out of left field, but find a good local FBO, get all of your licenses there in a concentrated program. Then go to Embry-Riddle or such and get an add-on remote bachelors degree.
Longjumping-Rice9783@reddit (OP)
and burn a hole in my wallet in the process😞
hagrids_a_pineapple@reddit
You realize they all cost money right? The local part 61 option is literally 50% cheaper.
Longjumping-Rice9783@reddit (OP)
yeah that’s what I’m doing right now, was just looking for something different. Embry-riddle is just known for being extremely expensive and that’s not really in the budget right now
Enough_Professor_741@reddit
Find a cheap state school that can do the add on.

In person? No. Online? Yes

Below please find a link to The Liberty Way, Liberty University's Student Code of Conduct.
https://www.liberty.edu/students/honor-code/
If you have no problem conforming your behavior to this code, it's a fine school. If you don't think you can live by these rules, find another school.

no public hand holding is wild actually😭😭
nashtaters@reddit
Yeah that’s pretty gay. I bet they won’t let you tuck your homies in either. What’s this world coming to
CannonAFB_unofficial@reddit
I’m so glad you posted this. It’s been years since I e read their code of conduct but I imagine it is…very not compatible with my atheist military pilot ass.
TerrenceJesus8@reddit
BGSU has a good aviation program, lets you hold hands in public, and just beat Liberty 23-13 last weekend. Go there instead lol
Longjumping-Rice9783@reddit (OP)
I’ll check it out!!
SciFlyPi@reddit
If you’re not religious, don’t do it. You’ll be miserable.
Longjumping-Rice9783@reddit (OP)
that’s seems to be the general consensus unfortunately.. def not going there now loo

As a fellow non-religious person... I made the mistake of going through Liberty for my first year of flight training. It was horrendous.
In the online forum, we were tasked with answering how we would handle an engine failure on take off and the options being landing in trees, or landing in a field off our nose with children playing soccer.
I shit you not, a lot of answers started their answer with "Well, first, I will say a quick prayer to God for my safety..." and I believe I was one of the few who didn't do that. It was awful.
Longjumping-Rice9783@reddit (OP)
oh my😭
Robinsmjr@reddit
That could possibly be the worst decision you could make. You would absolutely hate your life and start transferring schools within a week after you understand what a mistake going to liberty University is. Unless you want to get married in 2 month then be my guest
Future_Combat952@reddit
Dooonnttt do it.
hagrids_a_pineapple@reddit
If you’re not religious I literally cannot imagine a worse way to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars, your college experience, and four years of your life.
Anthem00@reddit
“Hundreds of thousands” might be a stretch….. hundred thousand and something is probably closer to the actual number n
hagrids_a_pineapple@reddit
Most people pay that much just for the degree. The flight training is another 100k. It’s not just included with the degree.
TicTacKnickKnack@reddit
It's over $100k for just the flight portion. Add in the rest of the degree and if you're feeling spicy cost of living and you're in the hundreds of thousands range pretty quickly. It's worse if you include interest on loans.
Longjumping-Rice9783@reddit (OP)
noted😭😭
hagrids_a_pineapple@reddit
I mean dude… they make you pray as part of the pre takeoff checklist. It’s so cringe.
GeorgiaPilot172@reddit
Just don’t ask them about Jerry Falwell Jr.
Longjumping-Rice9783@reddit (OP)
oh hell nah💀 definitely not doing that then, thank you lol
SnorkyB@reddit
You have much better options.

I cannot imagine a worse place to go to flying college
RaiseTheDed@reddit
If you're looking for colleges with aviation programs, AABI.aero is the accreditation organization for many aviation programs. They will give you a good start to your search.
