Need help deciding what to do.

As the title says, I need help making a decision. I can either go Navy Aircrew as a flight engineer (6 year contract) and work on my degree/flight stuff while in (worried I might not have time to do my schooling, but don’t have any debt), or I can go to either a flight college or a regular college and do a 141 through my flight school (a lot of debt but quicker).
I’m currently about 15 hours into my PPL about to start solo flights and I need help deciding. I heard a lot of people say they regret not starting sooner and figured I’d ask because the Navy thing takes longer but might look better on a resumé.
Any info on colleges/what degree to choose/general advice would be helpful. Thanks!

If you can suck it up and make it through I’d go the military route with no debt

I started teaching a Navy E-3 instrument flying a few years ago. Then Commercial SE, ME, CFI, and helped a CFII I taught prep him for CFII. No failures. Now an E-5 on SkillBridge instructing with a follow on job offer.
He did well during his free time in the Navy.

This is the first time seeing a good outcome for this lol. Did he do a degree as well? Just worried about the time constraint because I’ll be 24 by the time I get out and don’t want to be still working on ratings by then

Bachelors and masters.

Wow that’s impressive, maybe I will look into it then. Thanks!

You “heard a lot of people say they regret not starting sooner” sounds like confirmation bias on what you have already decided upon. Have you also heard of the people who have got all their ratings but can’t find a job ? Or those that have 1500+ hours and can’t find their next job ? None of those wish they had undertaken that much debt and the large note that needs to be paid off.

So do you think I should go the long route? Or just suck it up and take the debt? Just trying to gauge what the better option might be for the projected hiring situation

I've made a post talking about college aviation programs here: https://www.reddit.com/u/RaiseTheDed/s/pwfkUtUW3i
Discusses the good, bad, and ugly, to an extent.
I can't answer the military, though.
