Speaking of rotopax.

My rig has one mounted vertically behind the Aluminess cabinet. It came with the rig when we bought it ten years ago. We’ve never taken it off and I’m wondering if the two gallons of gas it came with would even combust in the old V8 without issue? Sure I could Google my question but I thought I’d keep the conversation going.

Lol no.

Rig.. rig.. rig.. rig

Ideally if you’re going to bring extra fuel you would use it on the trip on tour way home and refill on your next trip. They dont store well, Gas nowadays lasts a few months. Its probably good for an old lawnmower you dont care about, but not your rig.

I'm sure I will get down voted for this, but just go to the gas station next time you are on E, pour that fuel into your tank and then fill the rest of your tank up with gas station fuel.
One of my best friends owns an automotive salvage yard, and drains fuel from all the cars that come in as scrap. Some of these have had fuel in them for 20-30+ years. He has been running his vehicles off of it for 30 years.
Yes, gasoline oxidizes, loses octane, retains moisture, and generally becomes less effective. In the amount that you were talking about, it's going to be fairly irrelevant. If you are worried about it then just do it little by little every time you fill your tank. You will be fine.

Running an old vehicle on old gas is way better than running a new vehicle on decades old gas
speed_phreak@reddit
True; but OP is talking about two gallons of gas, stored in a clean plastic container. In that context, it's basically irrelevant.

10yo gas? I'd drop it off with hazmat. There's no way to "restore" old gas. Last thing I want is old gas gumming up fuel injectors out in the boonies.

At ten years old in the back of a truck that roto is half varnish/ half water
hipsterasshipster@reddit
Ten year old gas? Would not put that in my rig.
Gasoline degrades relatively quickly and undergoes oxidation and moisture absorption. Not really worth it to save a few bucks.
srpske@reddit
How old is too old for gas? I've read 6 months but unsure
graphitewolf@reddit
After 6 months ethanol mix gas will have absorbed water, itll run “fine” up till a year or so.
I wouldnt put it in anything i really care about after that
hipsterasshipster@reddit
6 months is probably the oldest it might be ok. Gas deteriorates very quickly.

Got any styrofoam?
PirateRob007@reddit
No, too old. Probably won't hurt anything but may plug the fuel filter up with water. Many shops heat with used oil burners. We dump old gas and fuel in ours all the time; if you're looking for an easy way to dispose of it.
crushedrancor@reddit
Use it to start fires or put it in small two stroke engines
Shmokesshweed@reddit
Take it to a hazardous waste dropoff near you.
afuriouspuppy@reddit
It might, but it’s not worth trying in my opinion. I’m also skittish when it comes to old gas in Jerry cans because of motorcycles being finicky. That said, if you’re looking for a way to get rid of it, you could put in half a gallon per tank and it might be ok
