Thanks my Ruger MKIV SSH 3” barrel is a bit unwieldy. Glad I can switch to a handy 1.75”.
MaxLeadAndSteel@reddit (OP)
Is that a super short Mark IV in your pocket, or are you just happy to see us?
We have 3”, 2” and super short 1.75” Mark IV threaded uppers back in stock and ready to get some action. Pair it with your favorite .22lr can so you can show the boys you have nothing to overcompensate for.
Please note, these are the serialized part and considered a firearm, so these *must* ship to an FFL.
SayNoTo-Communism@reddit
Does 22lr stabilize when the barrel is that short? I remember seeing the NAA mini revolver keyhole
Trapasaurus__flex@reddit
Yes, mine is just fine
Maybe problems with high and low grain range, but 40 grain standard velocity is no issue
nope_noway_@reddit
Hello sir, I’m trying to reach you having some issues with the FFL after a completed order! Chat sent. Please get back to me when possible.
rapitrone@reddit
These work on a mark 3 lower, right?
Backwoods406@reddit
Sadly I don't think the 3 and 4 play together. Mark 4s had an easier takedown than the 3's.
TexMedic91@reddit
Easier is a massive understatement. MkIII always had me cursing at a YouTube video, MkIV is no more difficult than any other semi auto in my opinion.
Backwoods406@reddit
I purposely saved a Mark 3 video just in case I couldn't get it back together. Nothing like inserting a magazine to dry fire a gun as part of its assembly. Also love flipping it over to get the "dorito' into the correct spot
hitemlow@reddit
There's a reason I refer to it as a magazine ""safety"". It goes against the instructions of every gun safety course. Deleting it was the first modification I did to the gun.
toxicity69@reddit
I think I have the same video saved lol.
That said, I think the technique shown in the video makes the re-assembly pretty dang easy and mostly foolproof. I've only had my Volquartsen Scorpion (Mk III) for a year, but the takedown wasn't an issue for very long with this video and a bit of time.
Wunktacular@reddit
The MKIV is the takedown model that comes apart with a button. Unfortunately, the mounting style is completely different.
Logizyme@reddit
No
TheBlackComet@reddit
For the life of me, I never understand why Ruger never changed the lower to be the serialized part. MK1-3, ok, fine, that was how you always did it, but these are modern times. I want to swap barrels out and not have to pay a transfer fee for every one.
Trapasaurus__flex@reddit
Have one, these are fkn awesome
The flush fit one is great, almost looks like an integrally suppressed one depending on your can
hitemlow@reddit
But does anyone sell the frames (not the 22/45 garbo ones) for less than the cost of a full gun?
TatonkaChief@reddit
I bought this from L&S a while back, and I called Ruger directly. I gave them the serial number, they matched the exact model it came from, and they sold me just the frame. I had to buy it MSRP, but, it was direct from Ruger which has pretty good service and it was definitely much less than buying a whole piece. I've got zero regrets on mine. I love it.
hitemlow@reddit
Cool, so we just got to find out if this is from a 22/45, or standard?
TatonkaChief@reddit
Mine was standard, which I was glad for. Maybe L&S can chime in, but I'd be surprised if any of these are 22/45s? I imagine the standard models are much easier to cut and thread down.
SandboxEnjenir@reddit
We get the uppers in batches, some have been standard, but most are 22/45. If anyone is interested to check their own, Ruger does have a serial number tool on their website.
nope_noway_@reddit
It says in the description it will work on ANY Mark IV lower… 22/45 included.
hitemlow@reddit
I specifically do not want the 22/45.
If the only way to get a MK4 Standard frame is to acquire a serialized upper from a Standard MK4 and contact Ruger for a "replacement frame", then I would want to make very sure this upper isn't from a 22/45.
nope_noway_@reddit
I had the original metal Luger style frame.. hated it. Sold it for the 22/45… was skeptical about the poly lower, but the grip angle alone makes it worth it. Absolutely love my Mark IV now
hitemlow@reddit
I already have a standard and my friend has a 22/45. We both hate the 22/45 grip angle and prefer the standard.
Sasselhoff@reddit
I finally gave up on that and bought a Kraken lower.
TooMuchDebugging@reddit
I got a 3" but from Volquartsen... It balances extremely well atop my steel lower with a Rugged Oculus.
I've found that the Aguila Super Extras (box says 1280fps) are subsonic out of a 3". Usually starts to malfunction after 200 or so rounds of Aguila... Maybe I should get a different recoil spring kit.
TatonkaChief@reddit
I love mine. Extremely gun with a can. For anyone wondering about a frame, you can call Ruger customer service to get a new one. They'll ask for the serial number and then send you the frame for whatever model the barrel came from. I don't remember exactly how much it was, but I want to say all in all it was $200 or so? I do remember that in the end it cost me about the same than if I had bought one of those off-the-shelf shorties from SilencerShop, but I was able to get all the bougie extras I wanted from Volq instead of stock. I love mine; no matter what else I'm shooting that day I bring this little feller to the range.
Also shout out to L&S, they're a great seller
legitSTINKYPINKY@reddit
Do these actually work? Mine barely cycles. That’s if I have FAST .22 as well
nope_noway_@reddit
Went with the 3 inch for this reason
legitSTINKYPINKY@reddit
Wish I would’ve gone just a little longer. Basically looks no different
SandboxEnjenir@reddit
Highly recommended the volquartsen reduced recoil spring kit. Still may have trouble with cci quiet but easily will through standard velocity
Truth_7@reddit
I'm in the market for my first Mark IV and have been looking at the SSH edition, would this be cheaper to do a build on overall?
chappys4life@reddit
I wish i would have bought a regular tactical then got something like this over my ssh. Comes out to be 2 nice options and a better price.
Scav-STALKER@reddit
Depends how cheap you can find a MKIV to cannibalize for parts lol
aheadofme@reddit
My $.02 is get a 22/45 lite or tactical and then also this in full stubby for when you want to larp James Bond.
nathancombs1818@reddit
Also curious
Truth_7@reddit
Rhid might be the way to go. But a tactical or something cheap and then use this as a shorty option. The deal yesterday had a 22/45 for $300, add this and you're still $100 less than SSH with two barrels, but no cerakote.
nope_noway_@reddit
Anybody know if I can bolt my pic section from my tactical model onto this…?
Don’t want to purchase additional pieces if I do not need them/already have them
SandboxEnjenir@reddit
Yes, these are threaded and have set screw fillers in place
nope_noway_@reddit
Went with the 3 inch thank you!!!
pinego123@reddit
I've got the 2" version, it's super quiet with CCI standards. It will not cycle CCI Quiet semi auto.
chappys4life@reddit
I have a SSH and waiting on approval for a OCL K. Should be a fun combo
nope_noway_@reddit
3” might be the move
SeasonedAdManager@reddit
Woah woah woah. 2" is more than enough. Anyone should be proud to have a 2-incher.
legitSTINKYPINKY@reddit
Mine barely cycles the fast stuff
pinego123@reddit
What suppressor? I've had the best luck with my Dead Air mask, it doesn't cycle well with my other 22 suppressors.
legitSTINKYPINKY@reddit
I’ve been using the Rugged oculus!
Error_506@reddit
Anyone know if the rounds stabilise?
SandboxEnjenir@reddit
Some do, some don’t. I’ve had luck with cci standard, and a couple others
SeasonedAdManager@reddit
Will this work on my $30 aero lower?
WatercressStreet2084@reddit
This is an assault weapon in Washington state (shaking my head)
Note that the m1 Garand is totally fine - you know an actual weapon that’s been to war
Notice-Horror@reddit
Do you offer pin and weld services for us in ban states (thinking the super short with a gemtech trilug) would make this CT legal .
Acceptable_North_117@reddit
I'm tempted to get this and pair it with a new OCL Titanium 22K
