Raw meat that’s freshly prepared from a butcher is edible raw. It’s usually mixed with grains, onions and spices. Or it’s dipped in salt and pepper just as you eat it. Or drizzled with a sauce.

The meat doesn’t have much of a flavor on its own. it’s cold, soft, and slightly metallic (because blood has iron in it). But it is in no way disgusting.

Our bodies are able to identify when something is rancid or not safe to eat, and reject it. If eating raw meat was bad, it would be repulsive…but it’s not.

It is very important, however, that you know where your meat is coming from and how it’s been handled. Meat from the grocery store is unsafe for raw consumption and can make you sick.
