This sub Reddit is making me judge myself and my culinary choices hard. This looks really good😂
fortunaterogue@reddit
I only have two reactions to pics here: smug superiority or "wow that looks kind of good actually" (oh no).
MerryBerryMudskipper@reddit
Honestly same but I am at least rural british born and bred so I have that excuse at least 😂

4.5/5 remember to stretch in the morning and Thankyou for your service!

Oh, I thought they meant something along the lines of trad-wife. I need to get off the fucking interent
MelancholicSailor@reddit (OP)
Only on reddit would an argument about bacon be half the comment section
qwerty7873@reddit
Man at least fry up the bacon lmao
MelancholicSailor@reddit (OP)
it cooks in the water i swear
SweetxKiss@reddit
It’s still pink in this pic 😭

Most bacon is smoked.
enchiladasundae@reddit
Cooked and smoked are two different things. Smoking bacon is usually leaving it uncooked with an effervescence of smoke flavoring like apple/cherrywood
Also, no. Most bacon is not smoked either. You pay extra for that
RSlashBroughtMeHere@reddit
Most, not all, American bacon is smoked. Smoking pork causes a reaction between nitric oxide a protein in meat so it stays pink. That's the smoke ring in bbq, or a smoked ham.
enchiladasundae@reddit
That shit ain’t cooked. Unless you want to put your money where your mouth is and eat raw ass smoked bacon you’d find in the refrigerated section. Unless you’re a parasite trying to advocate getting your buddies infect people this is not helpful to anyone
There are specifically designed cooking devices that can give a piece of meat a smoked flavor but aren’t cooked. Smokers and devices that give a smoked flavor or essence to a piece of meat are two separate things. What you’re talking about seems to be something akin to a bbq device where its standing either upright or to the side. Another smoking device traps a thing inside a dome or enclosed area and pumps smoke into said area giving it a unique and distinct flavor AFTER you cook it
RSlashBroughtMeHere@reddit
Have you ever seen smoked porkchops? You can pan fry them as long as you want but they're gonna stay pink because of a chemical reaction. And you can't really expect op's bacon to get much color or crisp up because it's boiled. You said so yourself, you cook regularly so you know this.
Also, I'm no pitmaster but I regularly make brisket, ribs, and pulled pork with my humble weber kettle. Make a snake with charcoal, throw a few wood chunks on the snake near the start and monitor the temp. You don't want to really go by temp with ribs, though. It's tough to get an accurate reading with the bones. So you just check them periodically. When the bones poke out, and you pick them up with tongs and they bend but don't fall apart, then they're good. Don't do that 3-2-1 garbage unless you want mushy meat ribs.
I also have a traeger for when I don't feel like babysitting my food. Next year, id like to step up my game with an off-set. So I don't need you telling me about smokers.
Finally, do me a favor and Google "is American bacon smoked?"

Bacon is pink. What colour is your bacon when you cook it? Black?
enchiladasundae@reddit
Brownish. Pink is not fully cooked
technowombat87@reddit
It is depending on the method used to cook it. Frying/grilling etc will turn the bacon slightly brown or a lot brown, depending on the time taken. But if it's put into water/milk/stock etc and cooked that way, it stays pink.
enchiladasundae@reddit
I guess I’ve never fully cooked bacon in like broth or water. I might par boil before frying to keep it tender and not hard/‘chippy’ but always something after
SweetxKiss@reddit
There’s raw pink like what it looks like in the pic, and then there’s cooked bacon which is 🥓 a bit more brown lol
tonyyj@reddit
Not if you boil the bacon, itll be pink still
ceciliabee@reddit
Mm I like it so crispy that it crunches and turns to dust when you chew it and you can suck all the bacon-y liquid out of the bacon dust and scrunch it between your teeth. Shhk Shhk Shhk!
MelancholicSailor@reddit (OP)
shhh dw about it, its cooked just trust me 🙏🙏
FoldyHole@reddit
I would just buy precooked bacon bits if this is something you make often.

Minus the bacon, this looks so good!

Many scientists behind instant noodle seasoning packets. Can't taste bad.
Apprehensive-Till861@reddit
If you don't want to fry it on the stove just put the bacon on a plate between paper towels and give it a short cook, then add it to the rest and let it cook the rest of the way.
NotEnseyar@reddit
mi goreng? it is usually made without soup (stir fried style), try it maybe you'll like it more
MelancholicSailor@reddit (OP)
I have maybe eaten kilos of mi goreng noodles. I like the soup...its where all the flavouring is and i like to drink it at the end
jonarr123@reddit
Youre supposed to boil the noodles with nothing on them, then mix all the flavor into the steamy noodle mess after. No flavor lost :)
struggle-life2087@reddit
I completely understand...I have maggie noodles that way
Melodic-Comb9076@reddit
not shitty then….tastes good, you get calories, not for others so you don’t give a f.

looks like budae jjigae for westerners
would smash as long as i can bring my hot sauces
davejeep@reddit
Sometimes I make what I call bachelor chow. Instant noodles with a can of condensed vegetable soup dumped in. Yum
OrangeYouGladdey@reddit
Heat the pan up and drop the bacon in first to fry. Once done, pour the water in and make it exactly like you normally do except now... With more flavor! Barely any extra effort.
Nomiss@reddit
Crack an egg in it too.
PowerfulDisaster2067@reddit
Try this also:
Sub the noodle for San Remo elbow, sub meat for spam, you can probably get knorr chicken powder at woolies/coles just had like a spoon ish of that or to taste into water and use that as soup, then a fry egg on top

This looks quite tasty actually (apart from the anaemic bacon… fry that pig, man)
MelancholicSailor@reddit (OP)
ANAEMIC BACON 😭
MelancholicSailor@reddit (OP)
All of you guys dissing my bacon smh..I swear its cooked enough, i put it in right at the start with the frozen veggies so if they can defrost and also become fully cooked then so can the bacon (I'm pulling this out of my ass i dont know if it works like that. if i get e.coli or something then ill maybe start following food health and safety guidelines LOL) I just really like soup
Motiv8-2-Gr8@reddit
Looks good to me.
Timely-Cry-8366@reddit
This looks like you didn’t cook it for long enough. Every recipe I have with veggies in a crock pot is 8 hours minimum, I throw it on 12 hours sometimes. This looks like a 2 hour cook best.
