ULPT How to get rid of an abandoned car on the block

The landlord had to kick these people out, and we had furniture and crap on the street for three months. They also left their car, and it's been at least six months. The landlord is living there at the moment, and he said he reported this (and he two other cars that haven't moved for six months) to the city. I know how the city and police works. Like most bigger cities, they aren't fully staffed and can only ticket cars to be towed when they have time, and only call to have them towed when there is downtime, so it can be many months before they have the time, and then they do all of the cars in one section.
Since it is abandoned, I posted on a local FB group and on craigslist explaining the situation and trying to get people to come get it. No keys, no paperwork, flat tire, probably doesn't run. I know it's "illegal" to take an abandoned car, but it's taking up two spots and the parking here is tight. No one cares. I got a lot of CL responses before it got taken down (probably thinking I was actually doing something bad.)
Any other ULPT to get this and the other junker removed?

Tow or drag the car out onto the street.
Then its local council responsibility.
It will be gone in a few days

Ahhhhhhhhhhh!!!

If you know anyone with a 4x4 pick-up truck have them pull it out to where it blocks traffic. It will then get impounded. I have disposed of multiple abandoned vehicles that way.
RealHuman2080@reddit (OP)
I know my brother has done that, but it's on a double dead end street and that would block neighbors from getting in and out. It would make it impossible for anyone to park, which is why we want this gone in the first place.
Kdiesiel311@reddit
“I need unethical tips”
“Do this”
“No not like that”
RealHuman2080@reddit (OP)
Right. I’m trying to find something I haven’t thought of.
going-for-gusto@reddit
Pull the car to your first acceptable location
mydogisatortoise@reddit
That would guarantee it gets towed/impounded immediately
RealHuman2080@reddit (OP)
I agree, but it would still block neighbors Inn And I don’t want to do that.
Kdiesiel311@reddit
Yeah this is the quickest option. Minor inconvenience for an hour then gone
o0Jahzara0o@reddit
Which is why they haven’t done anything about it. It’s not a priority. If it’s in the middle of the street however..
Foulwinde@reddit
sacrifices have to be made. Do it late at night so not as many people are out.
Responsible-Cow5828@reddit
Sometimes, pesky kids in the neighborhood sets fires to abandoned vehicles. When that happens, the the fd puts the fire out and the city tows whats left.
RealHuman2080@reddit (OP)
Yeah, this is in a neighborhood, so we don't want to set fire to it.
UnitedAttitude566@reddit
Ask the FD if they want it for training, they may come collect it
RealHuman2080@reddit (OP)
Interesting idea!
ATLien_3000@reddit
It'd be the neighborhood kids setting fire to it.
Not you.
SapphireCorundum@reddit
The cleansing power of fire is always the correct answer.
westsideriderz15@reddit
Could jimmy the door with an inflatable wedge kit snd override the shifter to neutral to roll it. Steering will still be locked though.
RealHuman2080@reddit (OP)
You’re right on both of those.
westsideriderz15@reddit
It’s cheap to rent a car dolly. A come along and a buddy can move it elsewhere.
RealHuman2080@reddit (OP)
I don't want to do that. That's why I was trying to get someone on craigslist to do it.
westsideriderz15@reddit
True, but you don’t have to do anything malicious to the car. Just abandon it elsewhere. Not like the old owner is ever going to figure out it was you.
RealHuman2080@reddit (OP)
Oh, the old owner clearly does not Karen does not want it. Just where I live. I can’t just randomly tow the car out of the way, because it’s a major 6 Lane St. right next to where I am.
Scary-Ad9646@reddit
Why don't you do it? By the way, it kind of sounds like you are committing criminal solicitation.
RealHuman2080@reddit (OP)
Yes, true. But I was 100% honest about it. I’m just not gonna get that involved to do it myself, but I would like to get some parking back on the street.
Scary-Ad9646@reddit
I get it, I do. But that's the way it is. Get a chain and hook, and drag that car so it's blocking like half the street. This is the fastest way to fix your problem.
Witty_Candle_3448@reddit
Code enforcement should tow it.
bpthompson999@reddit
Just spraypaint a bunch of anti-police messages on it, along with a few dicks here and there and I'm sure the timeline will get moving along.
RealHuman2080@reddit (OP)
Hee hee. Now that’s a creative solution.
anbmasil@reddit
Spill a bunch of water around it and call in saying you smell gas when you walk past the csr
RealHuman2080@reddit (OP)
Call who? The police won't come for that.
TogarSucks@reddit
Fire departments will.
Safer, but less likely to get it towed option is to say you smell gas leaking from it and they will come quick to check it out. They’ll probably get it towed since there was an immediate danger reported, but might not if they don’t see it.
More dangerous option is to pour some gas under the car where the tank is for them to find when they arrive.
RealHuman2080@reddit (OP)
I get it, but I know a lot of the local police and fire and they really are busy, so I don’t want to do something like that.
anbmasil@reddit
Yea I know. Fire department will.
samsbamboo@reddit
Push it into the street so it's in the way.
bggtr73@reddit
In some places if one or more windows are broken out (for example) it also becomes a Health Hazard, especially if you just saw some kids playing on/ in it. The health hazard may be handled by the health department a little more quickly, and the kids playing in a dangerous situation may be handled more seriously by the police.
stabbingrabbit@reddit
The owner of the property can declare it abandoned and be sold in lieu if money owed to the owner of property kind of like a mechanic lien. Has to post in local paper so any bank that has a loan on it can come get it if they want. Look up your state website for abandoned autos.
Foulwinde@reddit
just call the non emergency police phone number. They may not have the resources to patrol and look for abandoned cars all the time, but once one gets reported they act on it.
I did this once when a jeep was abandoned on my street for months. Called in the morning and the car was gone by noon.
Tr0z3rSnak3@reddit
Since it's reported abandoned, see if you can buy it from the city, then sell it
RealHuman2080@reddit (OP)
We've reported it over and over and over. As said, they haven't been able to get in and ticket it yet, let alone tow it. I do NOT want to buy it.
