Nice setup. I’d get this if I needed it.
Jason1435@reddit
It's a decent price considering it has like $400 in non PSA parts, like the $200 rifle speed gas block, but the PSA rollstamp alone makes it seem worse than a 11.5/10.5 DD that can be found without BCG for identical price. If your shooting suppressed, I'd say go for it, but if not, DD all the way.
Trope360@reddit
Let's say $90 Microbest, $200 riflespeed, $60 Raptor LT, $80 moss cerakote upper, rattle can dust cover, the brake isn't bad but call it $30. When we get into the barrel, not chrome lined hard saying if it's good or not, call it $100, and the handguard with the steel QD and being CMT style is something, they don't sell it but call it $150. Rough math and you're right about $700 without assembly. It's a fair price, my only knock on the DD is you're minus a $200 awesome AGB, a superlative will run you half that and I def would say the benefit of the Riflespeed is kinda lost on something like an 11.5" which is a super easy allen key (vs say, a carbine length gas 16" bbl with a 13" HG where you need a 5" long allen key to adjust it).
If you want suppressed, get the DD, throw on wojtek AGB and KAK downvent and you're at sub $1000 for a much better setup. Rattle can it all if you want the color scheme.

Honestly even moreso than that, just get a flow through instead of some cheap HBP can. 10x better to let the gas out than to moderate what goes back, saves you on buying or modifying the gas system that keeps DD reliable, even if it's a bit overgassed. The cost of downvents and gas regulators would probably be the same cost as just going from a cheap back pressure can to flow through. Ventums are like $800
Trope360@reddit
Ventum is a good recommendation if your priority is flow thru, for sure. I would say your argument that it's a cost objective and "any can that's not a flow thru is cheaper or bought because someone was being cheaper" is flawed. There are lots of reasons to get a can, or not, and while flow thru may be the highest priority for some, it is not the solution/priority for all, nor is it the most expensive relative to depending on your priority. The benefits of an AGB, from someone that runs competition rifles in 2-gun and other matches, is more than just "optimized setup for suppressor use". And thousands of rounds later I have no reliability problems.
I recommend the down vent for people that have a problem with gas in the face – personally, I move too fast for it to be an issue 99% of the time with standard vent non-flow cans, and the flash suppression is typically better when I run night matches than on a flow thru. But I run a lot of rounds a month and very very rarely is that on a bench or stationary land shooting at a single target (unless I'm working on bolt LR, and even then it's movement and quickly building positions). I've got half a dozen cans and honestly, run them less and think they're greatly overrated overall – spend money on training and ammo, run a good brake, don't get gaslit into thinking a can does something incredibly special (you still need to wear ears with it, I don't care if it's the best noise suppression on the market, unless it's 22LR). That said, my next can is likely a Polonium 556k – I love my Omega 9K, smaller the better just to take off the 🤌 but to each their own 🍻
Jason1435@reddit
Honestly my entire argument wasn't that high back pressure cans are bad, but if you want reliability above everything, most people can't tune their ARs without letting themselves tune it down so low that they lose the benefit of being slightly overgassed for reliability. That and adjustable gas blocks become a new point of failure. DD is naturally overgassed a bit, but give someone the ability to tune and they won't consider that and will likely go for the lowest or second lowest setting that still cycles. Flow through and a standard DD gas setup would make a phenomenally reliable gun, without the $200 rifle speed or the added point of failure. With the cost difference of that rifle speed gas block it basically covers the cost jump of going to a flow through.

Skip the down vent and save money. That’s a lot of crap getting sent down into the lower and mag for more money spent. Otherwise, this advice is genius.
Beautiful-Program428@reddit
Link to a DD upper? Thanks in advance.
Jason1435@reddit
Here is one WITH the BCG at $999, so as mentioned, basically the $800 upper but with the excluded $200 BCG, except now included https://dirtybirdusa.com/products/daniel-defense-mk18-riii-5-56mm-nato-black-upper-receiver-group/
Beautiful-Program428@reddit
Thanks! Any pistol lower recommendations?
Jason1435@reddit
DD is basically well made milspec, so it's completely overpriced. Build it yourself with a larue or Geissele trigger depending on budget. Even a PSA lower is like $30. If you ain't got the tools then buy any lower that already has a larue or Geissele
GuyButtersnapsJr@reddit
You can save money on the lower. As long as it's made with 7075 aluminum by a reputable manufacturer, that's good enough.
GuyButtersnapsJr@reddit
DD makes a great upper. However, unless you manage to catch a particularly nice deal, the BCM Blem Uppers are a better overall value. They start at $600 and include a BCM BCG.
TheKancerousKid@reddit
I wish that 12.5 BCM blem didn’t have dick mod on it otherwise I’d snatch it up
Jason1435@reddit
Hard to catch, usually the $800 priced uppers are contract overruns or special sales, keep an eye out for when they are posted on the reddit page as they dry up within the day, if not hours. If you're willing to pay closer to $899 or $999 there's probably plenty of sites in stock, but don't offer the BCG, which is like $200, while this offer does have that.
Beautiful-Program428@reddit
Still have a Toolcraft BCG 223/5.56 Ion Bond DLC with C158 MPI Bolt (yes copy/pasted the actual order) that I bought years ago…I guess it need to use it at some point.
Will look up uppers closer to Black Friday.
raifsevrence@reddit
Brownells has 14.5 and 10.3 DD uppers all day minus MD, BCG and CH. When black Friday comes around they usually knock about $100 off the price. Last year's BF "sales" were universally bad.
No telling if this year will be better, more of the same or worse.

To be fair, this palmetto shit stick isn’t bad. I have the full SBR and it’s not a bad gig for $1k. The features you get are pretty nice. The rifle speed AGB is probably the best part.
DiscoWookie2@reddit
Am I the only person that kinda likes this color scheme?
IllSkyHelix111@reddit (OP)
to finish this out you need a black lower, sniper grey pistol grip, zombie green buffer tube, and a FDE brace
oh and anodized small parts, color of your choice ofc
Loud_Dumps@reddit
Don’t worry guys, GBRS said this is duty grade
IllSkyHelix111@reddit (OP)
so fuckin' cadre
IllSkyHelix111@reddit (OP)
is this even a deal? i don't know anymore.
raifsevrence@reddit
It's PSA. Whatever it looks like extremely you should already know going in that there is little to no QC invested and it was probably poorly if not incorrectly assembled.
thismyotheraccount2@reddit
I guess it is if you want moonshine and rifle speed and don’t build?
citereh-Philosophy39@reddit
Ya had me at moonshine ass
