I've always thought these and the vepr hunters are absolutely beautiful. Especially the vepr with a thumbhole stock and a suppressed 😩
Present_Friend_6467@reddit
Reminds me of the VEPRs in .308
Q-Ball7@reddit
It's a Model 8, just with a fixed barrel, a different gas system, a detachable magazine, and chambered in a +P version of .300 Savage.
TheIronPaladin1@reddit
What?
Deus_is_Mocking_Us@reddit
Well technically a Model 81, the Model 8 didn't come in 300 Savage.
TheIronPaladin1@reddit
Dude what this is a long stroke gas piston 308 ak platform😂
deathstanding69@reddit
I remember when people bumrushed Killa with them because you could buy M61 on the flea....
Pavotine@reddit
Fallout style rifle again. I love it.
Eman19860@reddit
Combat Rifle, right?
BoringBich@reddit
To me it vibes more like the original Fallout 1 .223 hunting rifle, but then again I'm obsessed with details so the PPSh inspired Combat Rifle looks very different to me
Mauser1838@reddit
Honestly I prefer the fallout 3 assault rifle as I love the H&K G3
Thrill_Kill_Cultist@reddit
My exact first thought, It looks almost identical
Pavotine@reddit
In a world full of tacticool, this is very old-school cool. I always loved this form of rifle.
Thrill_Kill_Cultist@reddit
Chonky steam-punk vibes 😁
Wolfinthesno@reddit
For some reason I read valmet as Walmart...and was very confused for a moment.
No_Difficulty6960@reddit
I have one of these, it's really fun to shoot
That_Somewhere_4593@reddit
My boner just got stuck in my zipper... thanks alot, man.
Stuuble@reddit
This is like my perfectly designed rifle
Disastrous-Chard-502@reddit
Only "AK" that's legal in Canada, government gave a bunch of them to indigenous communities for hunting so they cannot be banned. They go for like 4 g's here
ATN90@reddit
I have one. Also had one in .30-06.
_gotmoxie_@reddit
I misread it as a VARMIT gun in a .308 and I thought wow that’s some pest to take care of!
HasSomeSelfEsteem@reddit
Cludge, but also erotic
dhcp138@reddit
definitely not forgotten to us Tarkov players
ftrxtmlngkmp@reddit
thats the weapon from the last of us 2 right? the one that the wlf's had?
Apsm2000@reddit
Yes, but it had a different stock.
duga404@reddit
Is that a Kalashnikov action? I recognize that selector lever
nehibu@reddit
Like all Valmets, yes.
0331-USMC@reddit
Does the Valmet M59 have a Kalashnikov action? How about the Valmet 412?
nehibu@reddit
Okay, fair not all, but like the typical valmet (military) rifles
p0l4r1@reddit
:D
bozo_master@reddit
Don’t know how to feel about this
squarehead93@reddit
Mom come get me they bubba’d a Valmet

That's the second pattern of the Valmet Hunter/Petra, and the first large production pattern. This included standard RK controls (magazine catch and selector switch), but had the top cover screwn on from both the front and the rear.
In addition to the four major patterns of the rifle, there were also transitional models which incorporated features from two patterns, depending on the parts availability.

This furniture has Winchester vibes, love the heft and the checkering.

Honest question - aks aren‘t known for their precision (as they were mass produced obv. Known for still working under any condition alltho being not great - but still working) ist a special made ak based hunting rifle as good as one like an ar pattern one? Or maybe even better?
Genuine question I‘m not that much in the topic just curious.
One-Strategy5717@reddit
The primary limiter on AK precision is the ammunition, as almost no one makes match grade 7.62x39 or 5.45x39. AKs that shoot 5.56 have a much higher ceiling for precision, but will still be limited by not having a free-floated barrel or stiff receiver.
You could make a really precise AK, but almost no one does, because it would be heavy as hell, and lose most of the qualities people look for in an AK.
Pavotine@reddit
An AKM from most military production is good for a 3"-4" group at 100 yards, good enough for hunting at any reasonable distance. Some models on the AK platform can easily do 2" at 100 yards so no problem there at all. For a combat or hunting rifle this is easily good enough accuracy for those purposes.
The "AK's are inaccurate" is very much overblown.
The AK74 pattern rifles again are good for 2" groups at 100 yards and in many militaries are required to hit a man-sized torso out to 400 yards/metres with just iron sights. Again, plenty good enough for the job.
Nero_Team-Aardwolf@reddit
Thanks for educating me on that.
Strong-Platform786@reddit
How well does it hold zero? I notice the dust cover screw, but sheet metal does flex a good bit. Also do you have to rezero after every cleaning, or does the dust cover give a repeatable zero?
justaheatattack@reddit
too heavy
GarethGwill@reddit
Heavy is good, heavy is reliable, if it doesn't work you can always hit them with it.
ourlastchancefortea@reddit
Who needs a bayonet if you can just bonk.
KeeganY_SR-UVB76@reddit
Not heavy enough!
running_toilet_bowl@reddit
Is this different to the Valmet Petra, or are they both the same thing?
J0h1F@reddit
They're the same thing. Although IIRC the M/88 distinction was used only for the later batches, and the earlier were called M/83.
legato2@reddit
That’s hot
p0l4r1@reddit
Sadly it's not in production anymore, but used ones are still affordable 800-1200€
