Dealing with a virus

Anyone prepping for a pandemic, what processes do you have in place?
Eldest son has thrown up all over his room. I haven't washed my hands so furiously since Covid. Doorhandles, binbags, rewashed hands after cleaning each. My wife is immunocompromised so it's really bad if she catches it.
It made me realise what would be at stake and what would be required if a viral pandemic happened.
I don't think we're surviving it.

First of all, skip the morbid fatalism about no one surviving. Second, if all you're asking is some vague question about dealing with sick family members, it's not a prepping question, even if you pose it as "prepping for a pandemic". This is basic Adulting 101 and there are plenty of resources out there on the net on how to deal with "flu season", how to clean up after family members, how to disinfect, etc. Especially after COVID. Do some searches and read those reources first. Then, if you have additional, focused questions, ask those here.

I'm not actively prepping for a pandemic, but disposable gloves would have helped in your scenario - wear them while cleaning the surfaces and throw them out when you're done.
If your wife is immunocompromised and this is about avoiding disease in general, copper is antibacterial which is why I would suggest changing all of your door handles to be solid copper if you can afford it, that would save you a lot of trouble - just be sure it's actually genuine copper.
This next part is a little more radical and I haven't thought too hard about it, but you could also consider installing UV lights in your house while you're at it as those will do the same thing as the copper handles. Just fire them up every once in a while for a solid purge.

Food, medications and hygiene for 3 months, n95 masks (seriously considering to upgrade that one in case shit hits the fan to a extent where I have to travel to family), hand sanitizer, soap, and I am lucky enough to be able to shelter in place on my own if needed.
Other than that, I stay on top with vaccines to the extent it is possible here, and try to stay as healthy as possible. Used iota carrageenan nasal spray every single time I am around people for about two years.

Only those who have been through it can understand. My daughter was immunosuppressed due to chemo, long before covid. I never had any problems with hygiene and disinfection, as we had already been trained for this.

Personally, I try and inform online discourse about communicable diseases. Education goes a long ways.
But ultimately, prevention and having systems already in place are how we deal with *another* pandemic since we are still feeling the effects of the COVID pandemic.
Call your Senator and tell them RFK has to go.

So back in 2016 the US actually had a full playbook for what to do, as a result, a super deadly Ebola outbreak in the US only infected 11 people. Unfortunately, that playbook was intentionally destroyed, with the CDC team who wrote it fired.
We absolutely will not survive a true outbreak of a disease with a respectable mortality rate, as long as we intentionally ignore and destroy science.

You made it through Covid though
