Johnny 5 came to my elementary school. NYC burbs, maybe 1989. One day I exited the school to go home and there he was moving his face but not his arms, and staying stationary. I think he was speaking but I hadn’t seen Short Circuit so I was just like, cool where’s my juice. In retrospect I imagine one of the parents must have been working on Short Circuit 2? Does that make sense around that time in the NYC burbs?

That's petty cool, who actuation gets to say they've met Johnny 5 in person... too bad yours had no laser! It was removed before he appears in the movie, and comes with a note saying why. So he wasn't quite as cool as the OG model 🤔😎

Fun fact:

Every time I've gotten a photo enforced ticket in the mail I've contested it, and every time it's dropped within a week. Turns out it's not worth gumming up traffic court arguing thousands of photo tickets when most people just shrug and write a check.

We've got one in my little city that's basically a strobe light it goes off so often. Gets people not coming to a complete stop on a right turn probably 40 times a minute.

Supposedly they are unconstitutional because you have a right to face your accuser in court and you can't do that when your accuser is a camera or something.

This was my understanding. They just bank on people not bothering and paying because they are lazy and don't know better.

In my area most of them went away because people just stopped speeding or running the light at those intersections so they didn't generate enough income to justify paying to keep them operational.
