Permanent resident traveling to Mexico

Will it be safe? I’ve been hearing that many people are being targeted by ICE regardless of their status. I can’t risk my mom traveling if she’s at risk. Language is also a major barrier, and right now she is heavily reliant on her medical team for life-sustaining medication. I really don’t want her to compromise her health if she could be a potential target.

no, two friends of mine went to be visit Mexico & El Salvador recently & both had issues returning despite legalities. It is not safe rn, at least not enough to gamble unless it is incredibly important especially with the language barrier & medical risk.

What were their issues?

What has your mom done?

I’d say immigration wise you’d be fine. But considering the health risks. I personally wouldn’t, in case something goes wrong.
TheRealFaust@reddit
They are not only deporting resident aliens, they are deporting citizens. And they are sending them to like Uganda…

It's crazy you've been downvoted for asking this. People are idiots. Keep on protecting your mom, whatever you decide to do.
Fragrant-Mission7388@reddit
No....are you crazy?
AlasBabylon_@reddit
I wish I could say otherwise, but honestly, no.
711SushiChef@reddit
Based on... your extensive experience?
711SushiChef@reddit
My wife travels back and forth numerous times a month. No issues.
Helpful_Silver_1076@reddit
I’d ask in the USCIS or immigration subs because they are more likely to have permanent residents who have traveled out of the country recently who can share their experience with the airports etc

I seen this article today. Trucker driver pulled over. Did not speak English. Truck towed and Ice called.
Creative_Maize1379@reddit
If he is living here legally he should not have a problem. Unless his record is not clean but just because you dont speak english ice cant take you
superdrone@reddit
The supreme court recently paused a ruling from a lower that prohibited ICE from doing the very thing you claim won’t happen.
I highly encourage you to actually stay informed of what’s happening instead of giving advice based on what you THINK is happening.

Oh honey
Hair_This@reddit
People are fear mongering hard on these here comments. Your mom should be just fine.
shyyggk@reddit
Fly to DFW, the most friendly airport CBP probably.
No_Raspberry8320@reddit
She will be fine. I live in a border town and my wife who is a green card holder goes about twice a week to visit family and has never had any issues. She has both walked across and driven and has never had an issue.
pwervin@reddit
I'm sad to say this...but if it were my mom, I'd pass on that trip. I don't trust ICE or Trump or our GOP leaders in Texas to protect anyone.
I want to put a giant Mexican flag on my SUV and drive around.
Geroximo@reddit
Me and my dad just went last month, my dad is a legal resident and no issues at the border. This is was in Eagle Pass, Tx
babypho@reddit
With this administration, most of the time youll probably be fine. But the 1 off chance time seems really bad. Up to you if you want to risk it.
Creative_Maize1379@reddit
Its safe if she has a clean record.
CatteNappe@reddit
I don't think I'd chance it. 9 chances out of 10 she'd be fine maybe, but that one chance? With medical concerns? Nah.
h3x13s3x13@reddit
Imma say, that 9 is looking more like a 3 after the denominator rose up to 30
And even then, that number feels too low.
Eagle-96@reddit
There is no timeline in which I would risk it.
SinkPuzzleheaded3508@reddit
If you’re a green card holder you fine .
Acrobatic_Box9087@reddit
Do not go to Mexico. Sheinbaum woman bad! You will likely end up in a Teotihuacano prison.
burrito3ater@reddit
Did she lie on her LPR application? Has she committed any crimes during her time in the US? Is her green card close to expiring?
If the answer js not to any of the questions. She’ll be fine. If they have nothing to deport you with, kinda hard to do it.

I wouldn’t even consider having my mom go if she were a permanent resident especially given her medical condition.
