My former flatmate went on holiday to Iceland and ate puffin there. He didn't tell me for ages bc I'm a vegan and he thought I'd be annoyed with him. (I wasn't.)
They are superb visible birds in breading season. However you have to find their nest holes and walking near them is (sometimes) dangerous as they see humans as foes.
Think they are very cute. There is a colony near us that my dad has been promising to take me across to see since I was 7. I’m now 34. My mam won’t do it as she’s scared of birds
Adorable. Many interesting facts about them as well. I’ve visited Skomer Island, once just as a boat tour where we were given loads of info, and the next year to actually land on Skomer and walk around the whole puffin sanctuary. I’ve got some fab pictures
A friend went to see them off the coast of North Berwick and I asked for one to be smuggled back for me as a pet only to Google it and find out that was lots of kinds of not okay/illegal.
bsnimunf@reddit
Superior bird. Good swimming and flying ability not like those crappy flightless penguins.
Did you know they actually live at sea the majority of the year and only come inland to nest for a couple of months.
RhinoRhys@reddit
Lovely when rotated to a medium rare.

Great bunch of lads.
I was surprised to find out that they only carry the distinctive beaks during mating season.
Purlz1st@reddit
The rest of the time they leave them back at the nest??
SoggyWotsits@reddit
Come on lads, get your best beaks on… we’re off out!
seven-cents@reddit
Grab your beak mate, you've pulled!
Sasspishus@reddit
They shed the outer layer at the end of the breeding season. In winter their beaks are dull and greyish
KnowledgeSea1954@reddit
They bring back good memories of a childhood trip to puffin island, I haven't seen any since.
Livewire____@reddit
They're absolute bastards.
Born-Car-1410@reddit
Yeah.
Livewire____@reddit
With their silly bills and smug eyes.
Bastards.
Born-Car-1410@reddit
🤣🤣
Some-Background6188@reddit
They taste a bit fishy and oily to be honest, chicken is nicer.

WesternZucchini5343@reddit
Delicious. They are a bit oily but if you collect the fat it's great for roast potatoes
Oldfart_karateka@reddit
Quality alternative to a penguin, imo. Not on a par with a seal, though.
HarissaPorkMeatballs@reddit
Jaunty little fellows
Venomenon-@reddit
I love them. They make a horrible honking sound though, so I prefer to experience them with with eyes only.
MrsTrellis_N_Wales@reddit
The books or the birds?
Barefoot_Beryl@reddit
I want to see one IRL, they're so cool

SonnyListon999@reddit
The ones on a stick?
Dense_Wave9543@reddit
Nope, the little feathered ones that live in burrows
Breakwaterbot@reddit
Pretentious
Sasspishus@reddit
Massively overrated! Razorbills are better, and have a way cooler name.
Geezer-McGeezer@reddit
Penguins of the day.
fgspq@reddit
Daisy Steiner voice Puffins? I like them. I think they're good.
Apprehensive_Guest59@reddit
A bit chewy, oily and they have a bit of an unpleasant aftertaste.
sanctum9@reddit
They are a bit showy for my tastes.
hallerz87@reddit
Pretty cool. You can see lots of them at Puffin Island just off Anglesey.
floofienewfie@reddit
They also live on the central coast of Oregon USA.
123Catskill@reddit
I’m in favour of them

They eat them in Iceland. When I asked a guy what they tasted like, he said, " a little like Guillemot".

Excellent birds. Very photogenic, with their bright beaks. They look nice on a tea towel or a greetings card.

Penguins are tastier, they are covered in chocolate
SkullDump@reddit
Cute good looking birds. If I ranked all the sea/costal birds in order of my favourite then they could be top of the list, certainly top three.
