Highjacking this to say you can get titre tests for your vaccines to see if you still have the antibodies or if you need another booster etc. Just gotta ask your physician.

Most health insurance companies won't pay for the titer tests, it is cheaper and easier to just get the shot.

I learned this when I wanted to get tested for measles antibodies.

I don’t think it was that expensive. Maybe $10. But you have a good point. I guess I just don’t like getting a vaccine if I don’t have to and I like numbers so it was cool to see what my numbers were for the different diseases. Modern medicine is awesome

I grew up hearing classmates stomp/squeek their way into class and those were just the Polio survivors. I am very pro-vax as well as very lazy. Getting the shot was easier than fighting with my insurance company.

Heard from several students in healthcare courses that even with their childhood vaccines their titers showed no immunity. Only a few of us didn't need boosters. Might just be worth it to skip the test and just get the boosters

Pertussis protection can fade faster than tetanus and diphtheria. In fact, protection from whooping cough can fade to almost nil within 4 years.

If you have babies or vulnerable people in your life, consider getting it more often to protect them.

Acellular pertussis vaccines (which is what we use now) protect against disease but fail to prevent infection and transmission. So is it best to vaccinate for someone else? Would you rather know you have whooping cough and actively avoid young kids or not know you have it and spread it? Weird grey area with this vaccine.

That's one of the dumbest conspiracies to me. My family was antivaxx, so I didn't get my vaccines until early 20s when I deconstructed my culty upbringing. And fun fact, I've always been autistic. It runs in the family.

I also got measles as a young child (like 3 or something) and quite literally came close to death (constantly screaming/crying cause I was in pain, my older sisters recall me complaining that I couldn't see at times, most of my hair fell out, I was fully potty trained before I got sick, and apparently I went back to diapers full time for a while)

I catch your sarcasm, but it fucking scares me how ignorant we as a country/people have gotten.

Get vaccinated people, please. Something deadly could get your kid next, and they may not be lucky enough to survive it. Can you sleep well after burying your toddler because you chose not to provide them health care?
