Does anyone have any recommendations and/ or experiences of senior schools in the Stony/ Wolverton/ Wolverton Mill area? I’m not from around here, and it’s application time, so I could do with some insight please!

When did yours go to Stantonbury? Was it before the overtake by current management?
I have recently moved to this area with my family, and the closest is Stantonbury. My son will be ready for school in a few years.

It was before, but I've not heard anything good about the school. I found that if the pupil is bright and goes for the top, then they encourage them and support them. On the other hand, if they need extra help, then they were very lacking.
Although there is now a uniform so the pupils have a sense of belonging. I'm not sure if the school still advocates calling the teacher by their first name but I found that bred a level of disrespect instead as they called it respecting the students right to be treated as an adult.
The real nail in the coffin came when my late wife's eldest came home and informed us that they didn't have to do what we asked them to do as they were 'young adults'. Removal of her phone and sky for a few hours soon changed that idea.
The first child to go to Radcliffe had a problem with authority and the word no. Within the first day, we had a call home about his behaviour. The next day, he was taken under the deputy heads wing, and even though the road was bumpy, Radcliffe never gave up on him. He passed his exams, went through college, and now works for himself.
Good luck

Thanks for the detailed reply. It's very helpful. Do you have any views about Woodend Nursery? Is it good for reception to Year 2?

We got our son in to deanshanger. It is awesome. No trouble in 2 years. Teachers are great. Sports facilities good. Good exam results. They got a low ofsted report because they didn't have enough bame children compared to the 10 biggest schools in the area. They wouldn't have as they are a village school. A very good school. If you can get in Radcliffe you can get jn deanshanger.

We have 2 kids who are doing well at Watling Academy if that’s not too far for you.
