Ahhh the Downtown Suites… Let me tell you of my woeful time in the Downtown Suites… it was decades ago. I was a junkie and staying at the lovely downtown suites in one of their downstairs “extra special” suites… circular bed, mirrors on the ceiling, etc… It was quite the trashy vibe, even for a hallucinating junkie as myself. There were syringes everywhere outside, and a family of Indian folks running the joint. They had a small child who they insisted showing me how many pushups he could do.

It was truely surreal… I would peep out the peephole and look across to the park and make up all sorts of wild stories about all the awful ways people had died in that area… electrocution in the metal tub, gun shots.. i mean there were stains of all colors everywhere so it wasn’t hard to do.

In any event… I had somewhat sobered up… and Ill never forget this… the little pushup kid shows up in the parking lot and says to me…as Im leaving… “Thank you for your stay sir, I see you are leaving… just remember the power that urgency has on you”

I was literally so confused - my drug addled brain was not able to process a young child spitting unsolicited wisdom to me… a weird fucking place and doesn’t surprise me one bit that someone got beheaded there. In fact id be surprised if it was the first.
