Look at how the UK or Europe looks now. That’s the future. They have less personal freedom and individuality than the average American hence why their authoritarian leftist governments have been able to steamroll them and import half of Africa and the Middle East.
It’s a bit of a Conspiracy theory, but I think they are doing this to offset the declining birth rates and replace generally well off Europeans and Americans with people content to give full control to the government and live in squalor and draw a check each month. The government gains more power, gets more bodies for the workforce, and they have a serf class or people who are comfortable living like animals in an authoritarian Hell hole because they have never known any better.
Why have 10 independent, wealthy (relatively speaking) Americans who are content to tell the government to eat shit and vote when they could have 1000 dirt eating peasants who are content with a government housing working back breaking labor, and are happy to let the government do whah it wants if they get to keep drawing a check each month?

They wont have a choice. Revolution is like fear amount a group of warriors. Once one soldier shows it. It spreads. The wealthy are growing increasingly nervous about how the commons perceive them, they are amping up their security both physically and technologically, but this thing is a long standing powder keg, and while its currently not as risk of blowing in the US, outside of the US there are many more powder kegs that could blow. If one of those do, and it spreads fire to ither powder kegs, then the relative safety that the wealthy enjoy here can change scarily fast.

Exactly, people have some kind of weird fixation with justice and morals thinking that enough bad will produce a counter-reaction to good. Nope. Any revolution can only happen if the balance of power is such that there is an opening. When the communists revolted in Russia, the country was basically finished, they revolted against a failing monarchy that was being allready challenged by a quasi-democratic movement while also losing WW1. The US revolted against a Britain that could not deploy enough manpower fast enough to the other side of the world in the 1770's and did not really have a significant technological advantage over the revolutionaries. China used to be very unstable and while even today there is lots of unrest and dissatisfaction with the CCCP, they have such a force advantage over their population that revolution seems impossible.

My point is this attack looks like it's 99% mental illness vs. 1% race. I do agree he should have been locked up in a mental health hospital. His January arrest was essentially because he was showing a full-on schizomanic episode. How that episode + his history of violence doesn't get him locked up is beyond me.

Nah but probably should get more than 30 days in jail for felony breaking and entering. He then got just 5 years for assaulting and robbing someone at gunpoint which also seems pretty light given his quite extensive criminal history. After telling officers a bunch of whacky paranoid shit that his mind was being controlled and he was being fed something that took over his body and decided when he ate, walked and talked he was also ordered to have a psych evaluation which suprise suprise never happened. He was clearly psychotic yet just allowed to roam free and unmedicated. Like how many chances do we need to give people to prove that they're not fit and competent to remain in society. Dude was a walking red flag and should have been put on a psychiatric hold. We need to bring back mental asylums.

I don't care about narratives, I care about what's true. I don't know enough to say racism wasn't involved (my gut says race is involved), but the stabbing of a stranger necessarily makes it a crime of mental illness.
Someone can be racist without stabbing people. They can't stab a stranger in cold blood without being mentally ill. They can certainly be both racist and mentally ill at the same time, and often are.
I'd say physically attacking random strangers unprovoked is a common sense condition for mental illness. I'd say that for anyone who did the same thing.

Oh no, don’t get me wrong, bullshit happens in their public transport from time to time too, as it does everywhere, those are big countries and weirdos there use it too. Those cases just don’t happen often enough and are usually not bad enough for it to have the “unsafe” reputation.
The worst recent case which had been loud in their internet was about two people beating and dragging an almost 90 yo man out of a bus in Moscow. The morons had an argument with him over politics. The person trying to protect him failed to do so, so they’ve decided to drag him to the police station, where all three were arrested, since the old man didn’t do anything wrong - they’ve let him go. He was alright though, just bruises and sore back.

It's not just about public transport. The difference is that in Russia (Ukraine and Belarus too), there are no low-class people like in the US. And there are no low-class neighborhoods. For example, you can live in a neighborhood with cheap apartments, but the public school your child attends will be of the same quality as in a neighborhood with expensive apartments.

As for poor class neighborhoods - it is more mixed there and there is no projects in Russia. There are “human anthills” districts and 5 storey districts which do contain a good number of troubled youths, but those are not populated by solely the low class. The real bad place to live in a post-Soviet country is not a huge city - they are cheap and comfortable there if you are comfortable living in an apartment that is. It is living in a medium to small dying middle of nowhere town. Those are fucking grim - and your child’s prospects in/after school are too, unless they REALLY make those study hours count.
