3 interconnected short films about people at increasing levels of preparedness during the events during and after a nuclear war.
Thought this might be of interest to people in this sub. Very low budget but still insightful. Streaming free on prime in the UK, not sure about other countries.

We watched it, it seemed very far fetched and the acting is hammy, if it’s free on Amazon prime it’s worth a watch just for the sake of it but don’t pay money for it.
My wife (who knows almost nothing about the subject) was left with the opinion that a nuclear war in the UK is very survivable as no one’s windows were smashed, all the trees had leaves on and there were no fires! 😑
Out of the 3 stories, one is OK (the bunker man one) the others are poor.

Get your wife to watch the 1984 film “Threads”. She will very, very quickly change her mind.
Before she watches the film, she should watch the public service broadcasts “Protect and Survive”. These are available on YouTube.

If she comes across the RunRig song, she should listen to it. It’s a nice song and nothing to do with the UK Government’s attempts at “humour”. In fact here is a link to the song:- https://youtu.be/0TxnNoxSwoo
There are lots of “Protect and Survive” Public Service Broadcasts. The first link goes to the 1 hour or so one.
Worth a watch.

Threads was quite terrifying and well done. Very grim.

I'm no big city technologist, so I don't know nothin' about no taurants - but this looks like a good place for you to start your search (assuming you're running a VPN or equivalent): [Where to find Days Ahead](https://1337x.to/torrent/6482131/The-Days-Ahead-2025-1080p-WEB-DL-HEVC-x265-RMTeam/)

The second story Prepared. When they had the emergency broadcast they said that major cities were unaffected, London, Birmingham and Manchester were fine, but Plymouth, Southampton, Cardiff and Bristol were all hit. Why would London not be a target when the government is based there. London will be number 1 on the list. I understand that the ports would be hit along with milatry establishments but seeing as London has all the heads of military, the government and Europe's top financial establishments I thought that was back writing.

I agree pretty unrealistic in that sense, but I could see what they were going for. The Russians launched a pre emptive military exclusive strike hoping that all retaliation would be exclusively military. Not how it would play out in real life I think.

as a self identified prepper I have to watch all prepper films. my cross to bear.

Seem Threads yet?

I don't think so.

Looks like another on the list!

Threads is a classic, can't say you have watched much if you haven't seen that ;)
Testament is another Amerikan disarmament propo film also, also with stupid characters who do ridiculous things post nuke.
mjolle@reddit
Threads, along with The Road, are two movies that have left me almost hollow inside. Fantastic movies, but not particularly uplifting.
Threads is absolutely 10/10 though.
Mountain_Fig_9253@reddit
Threads is more like the “it doesn’t matter what your preps are” type of movie.

I feel like prepper movies are either a) "Haha you dumb urbanite, real preppers will win while you die with your tesla and latte!" or b) "See, no matter how much preperation you do you're dead anyway so it's best that we band together as a society because we rise and fall together."

For dated but useful knowledge, check out the Nuclearvault channel on YouTube. Plenty of civil defense films.

I just watched it. Definitely nothing to write home about, was worth the $3 for anyone who's a regular subscriber to this sub (my opinion). These types of stories allow people to put a lot of social commentary in. But it's $3 in freedom units, give it a spin.

Looks interesting. Will have to see if I can find it to watch in the US
rws1017@reddit
Prime has it available to rent or purchase in the US.

I delay enough of my amazon purchase shipping to get a lot of the $1 digital credits. It's like $20/year in ebooks / videos.

Dang nabit..... and here I got my hopes up at work

Saw this available for rent. I might rent it at some point but I hate the style of movie is shot in. Not just this movie but all movies shot in this style. Just seems like they’re all underwhelming.
