My two favorites: No Country for Old Men, and There Will Be Blood.
Not seen any movies since that left as much of an impression on me, and drove me to pursue becoming an actor in my early 30’s.
Stuck with it a decade, and still do some photo shoots and man-model stuff, but it’s just been good for a few extra bucks so far.
I love "Super 8" (which makes sense as a GenX because of how much it is inspired by the 80's movies we grew up with).
"Big Fish" is also one of my top films, which feels more relevant the older I get.
Probably, based on rewatches, *A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night*. It’s beautiful to look at, in black and white. The music is great. Simple boy-meets-girl horror.
Animated: WALL-E
Indie/weird shit: Only Lovers Left Alive, Moon, Inglorious Bastards, Moonrise Kingdom, The Overnight and Kill “motha fucka” Bill
Foreign:, Downfall, Crouching Tiger, King Fu Hustle.
Foreign indie/weird shit: Dogtooth 🤌
Drama: Kings Speech and Allied
Fantasy: Harry Potter series
Sci-Fi: Tron Legacy, Dune, Prometheus, Sunshine, Oblivion
Horror: Constantine
Action: Inception, Dark Knight series, Looper
Created an appreciation for wine in me and for others who appreciate wine too! Also, I really crushed hard on Virginia Madsen. But, that entire cast was just great. See what I mean about stirring an urge within to get into filmmaking and acting? Never before had I experienced that part of myself. I was always extroverted, and that in and of itself does not make a performer. Still have the urge to be in and around filmmaking, but stuck down here in the Deep South (but not Atlanta) kinda stifled that ambition, eventually. Couldn’t convince the wife to take off for So Cal.
But, it was a great run while I played in the field. Met some great folks, a scant amount of money, and some wonderful memories of places and people.
Catch Me If You Can. There’s a lot of other great films but that sprang to mind as far as something I enjoy watching again. Plus Walken is my favorite.
I’d have to go with Gran Torino.
Clint Eastwood does a fantastic job of playing a character who shows some real growth during the movie without really changing his underlying personality. Also, I’m a sucker for movies that really surprise me with the ending.
There's some great ones.
You've got the Nolan films.
I do like gone girl.
I don't have absolutely favourite films as its mood dependent.
I do have favourites though
