Oh nice, a plane they might actually own.

I was surprised to see that quite a lot of them actually flies every day, taking into account that this plane is also made of mostly Western components (I believe it's around 60%). And they do very decent mileage too., some of the routes they do with SSJ-100 are well over 3000 km.

Politics aside, it'll be interesting to see how the Russian domestic aviation industry develops post-sanctions.
They're clearly not going to be breaking the Boeing-Airbus duopoly any time soon, but I guess things like the SSJ-100 and MC-21 don't have to be competitive with them to meet domestic demand, they just need to work.
NMorphey@reddit
SSJ is 2000s design (tho there is the fully domestic version, its tests have started only this spring). MS won’t fly commercially anytime soon, they redesign it currently
Only_Individual_3960@reddit
What are they redesigning on the MC21?
barahmasa@reddit
Basically half of the plane, flight control system, avionics, power supply, weather radar and a lot of other things... It's range with domestically produced replacements for Western components was just reduced to almost half of the originally planned, so I guess they still have a lot of work in redesigning everything to get an at least somewhat efficient airliner.
Just_a_Berliner@reddit
They have to, especially since the russian engine and heavier russian parts kill off range down to joke levels.
CotswoldP@reddit
Removing all the western parts they can no longer get due to Uncle Vlad's holiday plans.

Those seats look Boeingly familiar.

Boeing helped with marketing during the launch in 00s

One of the things I find fascinating is how big the parking brake lever is in otherwise fully FBW airplane (not sure if brakes are "by wire" too).
Rafikis_Ass@reddit
No kidding, that thing is center stage.
321NEODriver@reddit
Agreed. That thing looks more like an emergency gear extension handle than a parking brake.
yamthirdnow@reddit
Basically an A320 with portrait screens and different thrust levers.
NMorphey@reddit
These throttles move btw

I love the interior color
DogWarovich@reddit
As far as I remember, there was a study in the USSR on the best color for the interior of the cockpit to help pilots concentrate during long flights. Light blue or turquoise turned out to be the best, and most planes and helicopters in Russia still use these colors today.
