Yeah I was about to say. It isn’t just the largest current mammal. It’s the largest animal on Earth in the entire existence of the planet, and to our knowledge, in the history of the universe. There are plants that are larger but no animal
And beacuse there are no animals outside of earth, as Animalia emmerged on Earth.
Even if there are other animal-like creatures on other planets they still wouldn't be animals
They are insanely big. I saw a couple earlier this year off Perth. When they dive, as they round out it feels like they just keep going and going and going. Truly enormous.
Every time I'm reminded of how big they are, I'm disappointed at how small large dinosaurs actually were. I mean comparatively. Like as a child, I guess I thought some Sauropoda like the Brachiosaurus would dwarf a blue whale.
Humans hunt them, and according to Google Orcas do definitely hunt them and successfully. I didn't go deep into it, so for all I know, they only kill the young.
Those are the pygmy blue whales found in warmer waters. Antarctic Blue Whales, the ones that actually get to 100+ feet do not have any natural Predators. Orcas in their habitat don't hunt them.
lol I was just thinking about that! Seems easy. But I’m sure if blue whales could see our lives they would be fascinated and think they wished they could do what we do.
Whales are monsters… you ever been in the middle of a storm sea, clouds are black and grey and the waves are rocking as if Poseidon himself is walking beneath. And then a mighty Sperm Whale appears out of the roaring waters, as if the winds are carrying him in the air, the splash as he makes his way down rocks your ship and trembles your heart
Nah bro, it's ya boy Moby. I shred those waves like a surf ninja. Then I hit up some dolphins i know for that good good puff puffer fish. (I have no evidence whales also partake in puffer fish shenanigans.)

Bro doesn't know about Cthulu
SignificantYou3240@reddit
What if Cthulhu is, like, hollow like how shrimp have a big water space inside, maybe he still isn’t that big if you don’t count that.
I mean I know I’m just grasping desperately at straws for some reason…
Ok-Meat-9169@reddit
Imagine Cthulu being 50 grams lighter then a Antarctic Blue Whale
SignificantYou3240@reddit
He goes to crush you but just deforms… and you got out of the water and he absolutely can’t follow you…
And you think you’re safe…
Maybe you even taunt him for a moment…
And he kills you to death with lightning.

A few were longer, but they were mostly neck and tail.
terra_terror@reddit
They are the biggest animal on Earth. They are the biggest animal to have ever existed on Earth, as far as we know.
Biggest is determined by mass in this case. The longest animal is the lion's mane jellyfish, which can grow a few meters longer than the blue whale.
ProperClue@reddit
The biggest animal to ever exist on earth, I believe, is larger than any dinosaur.
party-liquor-rain@reddit
Not just the largest mammal on earth, the largest animal to have ever lived.

I wish I was a blue whale fr, no work, just swimming accross the globe

Yeah until a pack of Orcas track you down and eat your tongue or drown your kids. Great laugh 😆
GullibleSkill9168@reddit
Orca don't hunt full-size Blue Whales, maybe the pygmies in Australia but a 100 foot Blue Whale has no Predators.

They arent born 100 feet long..
GullibleSkill9168@reddit
Orcas hyper-specialize in hunting a few prey items their entire lives. Blue Whale Calf is not one of those prey items in Antarctica.
So once again, they have no Predators.
