Am I Alone in This Thinking?

First: WOLVERINES!! Second: Yeah I keep expecting things to turn and get better (housing prices for renters and buyers in large cities, for example), but what it seems like to me is things get way worse then a little better. Just one two steps back and one forward. I got out of the military when the job market was bad (I can't remember but was that around the "dot com boom/bust"?...it was whatever was happening in 2004. Went to grad school, when I got out of grad school, the economy got bad again with the subprime mortgage bubble burst (guess who was working in real estate at the time). Then as finances started to look okay for me in NY around 2010, rent started going up faster because more people were returning after abandoning the city in 2001 after 9/11. It just feels like in a lot of ways we, as a generation, have had a good amount of personal progress (were generally VERY educated) clawed back by generational issues/shitty wages and salaries. Now I'm in my 40s and finally starting to get ahead of things with my new partner and we THINK we can buy a house when he's finished with med school. I remember watching my mom go from paying nothing at the doctor to a small $10 copay and then just watching that copay increase over and over again, prescriptions getting more and more expensive, etc. Healthcare was just completely fucked up by the boomer politicians accepting all the oil and healthcare lobbyist money. I think that's why we want money out of government more than any generation before us
