Pretty much title. What Chicago style pizza places do people recommend? I’m willing to drive out to the suburbs.

kwitty11@reddit
Rosatis
syngyne@reddit
Yeah, I tried the one in Lewisville, it was good.
mattgoldey@reddit
I recommend you get better taste in pizza. That's a casserole.
Lobotc2dfw@reddit
Rotolo's which has moved their previous Frisco location to here: https://rotolos.com/locations/carrollton-3204-e-hebron-pkwy/
Cansum1helpme@reddit
No no and no.
I was told their pizza was like south side Chicago tavern style e.g. Pags or Beggars. IMO, Not even close.
I worked and lived on the South Side for seven years and routinely ordered in Pags/Beggars, or whatever the local place had.
Rotolos is not bad pizza, but something is “off”.
I will say however, the beer list is fantastic.
DavidTheBlue@reddit
Giordano's can be delivered froze . I've had it many times. Expensive, but worth it.
iANDR0ID@reddit
I miss Taste of Chicago in Addison.
rhyses_@reddit
It closed. Really sucks because they were good
benman5745@reddit
Same. Always cooked perfectly with a good sauce to meat ratio
SomethingHasGotToGiv@reddit
Gino’s actually built a location at 35/NW Hwy a few years ago. Too bad it didn’t last long. People didn’t know what they were missing out on.
Express_Rock7629@reddit
Chicago's Original in Allen
Gam3fr3ak96@reddit
For tavern crust, go to DL Macks. As a former Chicagoan and bit of a pizza snob it is far and away my favorite pizza in the metro.
smendyke@reddit
Louie’s has better tavern style than DL Mack’s IMO
probablyalfie@reddit
Best Chicago style pizza you’ll find in town is at a little hole in the wall called Chicago Pizza & Pasta off MacArthur in Irving. You have to call ahead 30 minutes before unless you’re willing to wait for your pie. Not much in terms of scenery, but friggin delicious and open super late.
punkerjim@reddit
Place sucks
BJazz710@reddit (OP)
Couldn’t care less about scenery. I’m looking for flavor baby. Tavern style? Deep dish? Both?
probablyalfie@reddit
Never seen tavern style there. They’ve got what other places would call a deep-dish and they’ve got the full-on Chicago-style sauce-on-top pie.
kingstante@reddit
Real Chicago style (tavern) or fake Chicago style (deep dish)?
xAimForTheBushes@reddit
Hot take….tavern style is just basic thin crust pizza and is served many places not unique to Chicago.
Deep dish is really the truly unique Chicago classic.
(But btw, having said that….thin crust/tavern pizza absolutely destroys NY style pizza, which is so freaking overrated).
Cansum1helpme@reddit
No need for the downvotes , it’s a legit question
kingstante@reddit
Yeah idk what’s up with these people
BJazz710@reddit (OP)
Both
gooseisland410@reddit
Louie’s on Henderson
greelraker@reddit
Gatti’s in Allen was good. But Rosati’s is top notch.
Lou Malnati’s (sp?) also delivers frozen pizzas, if you are willing to pay a bit. They are just as good as the real deal.
BabyBearMan@reddit
Ordering Lou's is the way. Wife and I usually order a half dozen a couple times a year. They cook up fantastic. We have a couple on stand by for the Monday night Bears game.
MagicWishMonkey@reddit
da bears da bears da bears....
Cansum1helpme@reddit
So we have two styles: deep dish like Gino’s / Malnatis, or tavern style like Pags/Beggars (south side) .
BJazz710@reddit (OP)
Yeah I didn’t clarify unfortunately. I MEANT deep dish but honestly recommendations for both are great. Someone suggested deep dish is “fake” Chicago style and thin is “real” style? How do you feel about that?
Cansum1helpme@reddit
Both are good. Tavern style: Pags or Beggars. Deep dish, Gino’s, Nancy’s , Malnatis or Rosatis.
Southside_Burd@reddit
I love me a good tavern styke.
ForzaFenix@reddit
Both are real. Depends on what you're in the mood for.
Cansum1helpme@reddit
For real
this_aint_no_hobby@reddit
DL Mack's has a chicago vibe and does tavern style
Ok_Weight2463@reddit
Motor city pizza in Lewisville
BJazz710@reddit (OP)
Motor City? Wouldn’t that be deep dish?
RepulsiveInterview44@reddit
Yes, Motor City is Detroit style. Still delicious, just not Chicago style.
BJazz710@reddit (OP)
I love Detroit style. But somehow I’ve never had Chicago style 😳
RepulsiveInterview44@reddit
Oh man, you are missing out. Chicago style is amazing!
BJazz710@reddit (OP)
So where should I go then?
texan01@reddit
5th street n Allen is pretty decent.
Gonzalla@reddit
5th Street Pizza in Allen. They specialize in St. Louis style pizza, but I think they do Chicago style as well
happyklam@reddit
Chicago Ave in Frisco on Eldorado is decent
Cansum1helpme@reddit
Couple Rosatis in the area. Haven’t been to any of them, but would be curious to see how authentic they are.
greelraker@reddit
Rosatis was one of my top 3 when I lived in Illinois. I would get it weekly. The ones here are the same/just as good. I have ordered it several times for my in laws and they also love it.
Cansum1helpme@reddit
Oh man I miss Gino’s, Malnatis and Uno.
There is a Gino’s off 35/Nw highway but evidently it went out of business 😕
ForzaFenix@reddit
It started off OK but went downhill fast.
Cansum1helpme@reddit
Dang that sux
loudnoiseuiuc@reddit
Wow, good choices. Lou Malnatis on Rosell was my favorite growing up
ForzaFenix@reddit
The Unos in Ft Worth (RIP) was exactly spot on. Too bad it closed. The Ginos East locations didn't come close to the Chicago ones.
karatechop97@reddit
Hershey’s Palace in Arlington.
TheLeftofThree@reddit
Try Barro’s in McKinney.
ColdestCatAlive@reddit
No good thin crust options that will do the trick unfortunately. I tried everywhere.
Super_Skill_2153@reddit
Try good side pizza great thin crust
Super_Skill_2153@reddit
Good side pizza has an amazing thin and crispy crust like Chicago tavern style. Love this place.
themdubs@reddit
https://www.realdeepdish.com/deepdishholygrail/ just use this recipe and make it at home
punkerjim@reddit
Chicago pizza is not deep dish. Two different things.
punkerjim@reddit
From chicago, rosati's is the answer for thin
liswat@reddit
Perrys
True_Emu3011@reddit
Best pizza I’ve had is Buffalo Bros in Fort Worth. The wings are not that great but the pizza is equivalent to Chicago style pizza
