From the 90s? As a grunge fan, Bush easily fit right in with Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, Smashing Pumpkins, etc. Radiohead and Space Hog come to mind as decent Brit rock bands, but totally a different wave length away from grunge. But what, Oasis? Blur? The Verve? [Aka the wannabe Beatles, Sex Pistols and Stones] No, I think Bush was the stand out for loud grunge.

I remember being at university when I first saw Arctic Monkeys mentioned in some sort of new artists article in NME with a bunch of other bands. It was before they had an accessible EP, and were handing out CDs they'd burned themselves at gigs, so of course you could download a bunch of their early stuff, because people were uploading those CDs to the internet. They were from my mum's home city and the area she grew up in, and it was some local sheffield youth music project that got them started. I'm still really happy to see them doing so well.

England’s been rocking for much longer than this my friend-ever heard of Black Sabbath, The Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, The Who, The Clash, The Sex Pistols, Led Zeppelin, and I could literally spend the rest of this beautiful day listing incredible, heavy handed British bands right up til today with talent like The Chemical Brothers, Arctic Monkeys, Radiohead, The Kills, Kasabian, The Stone Roses, Death In Vegas, The Cure, Bloc Party, Frank Ferdinand, and I’ll go ahead and stop there. Bush was a good band but the Brits were killing it before then and will be killing til time stops.

He responded they’d been on once we asked who it was and his response was “some screaming mess you girls listen to all the time”. It was Bush (and I assume the song was Machine Head). Their second song was Glycerine and he liked it. He was all “see this is music, why can’t they do more like this”.

In Canada, due to a conflict with an obscure Canadian band with the same name, and that being the 90s, Bush became known as Bush X until Gavin and company bought the rights to the name. I think they could've gone with "Bush UK" (sorta like The Charlatans), but that's just me.

I saw them in 1999 or 2000 in Orlando. House of Blues I think? It was a fantastic show.

Because of copyright laws and already having a registered band called Bush in Canada, these guys were called BushX for the longest time
