I’ve been sitting on this set up for a while so I figured I would share it.

A lot of stuff, mostly stuff on the retro side is not set up, but I figured you guys would enjoy seeing it anyway.
The goal of the retro side of the room is to basically have a permanently set up retro LAN party so I can host my friends who are not tech oriented for LAN parties.
I don’t get a lot of time to work on this stuff, but it’s very fulfilling when I can take some time out here and there to set a system up.
I threw in some photos of my work and gaming set up as well as hi-fi, retro gaming, and my 3-D printer just cause I figured some of you would be interested.
I’ll continue to post updates as I get things set up! Currently working on getting Windows 95 on my Packard Bell Multimedia there at my project station :)
Crotashootsblanks@reddit
A fellow Packard bell user!
ddrfraser1@reddit (OP)
It was my childhood computer!
Crotashootsblanks@reddit
Same. I did finally rebuy one last year. Spider-Man cartoon maker and the Disney games that came in there. Classic.
ilikestem@reddit
Everything is
figureoutable
With this battle station..it certainly is.
kantank-r-us@reddit
Wowowow the Antec cases, I loved those back in the day.
ddrfraser1@reddit (OP)
Full size too :) not the mid tower versions
SilverSaren@reddit
Ok I’ve seen lots of these long finished attic type spaces and this one is my favorite!
SilverSaren@reddit
I love it. Looks hot in summer tho!
ddrfraser1@reddit (OP)
Nope. Mini splits keep it nice and cool… that is until they broke one time which is why I had the portable AC unit. All fixed now, though!
SilverSaren@reddit
Perfect!
buenopower@reddit
Sooo sick dude
micksterminator3@reddit
I grew up with that Packard bell you had open. Good times
ddrfraser1@reddit (OP)
Same!
micksterminator3@reddit
Nice! I still remember playing the Activision/atari games it came with. Also the Data east compilation with karnov, bad dudes, and heavy barrel. I still remember installing em at our first house at like 4 years old lmao. My parents didn't know how and it had the directions on the sleeve.
micksterminator3@reddit
I just bought three Pentium III computers for $40 usd total. One of em had a bfg 6800gt OC in it! Two are custom built and the other is a Dell with a GeForce mx2. Recently bought some CRT monitors too. Gotta find my IDE to SATA adapter and also a PS/2 keyboard and I'm golden. Wish I had the space you do. Damn!
Able_Rain6635@reddit
Dude just called me poor without calling me poor.
xAnilocin@reddit
Honestly, I find it harder to find a room large enough to fit all that stuff
ddrfraser1@reddit (OP)
tbf, it has taken me decades to get to this point. Slow accumulation. Most of the cases and spare parts I got off a hoarder (I'm talkin warehouse level hoarder) for $5 a piece down in AL. Those model Ms and Fs I got from recycle centers. Even the furniture is second hand. Only truly expensive things were the speakers and receiver and the gaming rig. Even the newer monitors are second hand. Yes, when you add it up it is worth a shit ton but the cost has been spread out over a LOOOOOONG time. Almost everything has a story of how I got it for cheap or free. The built-ins are made of pine 2x8s and 2x10s. Not too expensive compared to what a lot of people pay for something like this.
Able_Rain6635@reddit
That's the best way to get retro gear. I've recently just started the past few years. Things accumulate quickly.
ddrfraser1@reddit (OP)
The key is knowing when to stop. For me that was about a year ago. I've now basically got everything I want/need. Now, I need to slowly build it all and set it up as I have time. It's like working through your game backlog. This is the difference between a curated collection and becoming a hoarder.
DadBodMedicNate@reddit
Quite the retro wet dream
El_phantasamo@reddit
1) "Jules & Vince - Pulp Fiction" stencil on the machine with the "Arcade Controller" is nice.
2) Marshall "mini stack", What do you play? (Bass Player here)
ddrfraser1@reddit (OP)
It’s a beer fridge XD
electrowiz64@reddit
Bro, if I won the lottery, THIS is EXACTLY how I would want my house setup, said it PERFECTLY!
I obsessed with pc building of the 90s-2000s, all those expansion bays and cards was so addicting!
SilverSaren@reddit
I miss those days!
TheLostExpedition@reddit
If you die can I have your stuff /s
mostposthost@reddit
That Micron tower...
JAlba87@reddit
Just need some art on the walls
ddrfraser1@reddit (OP)
Yes. Those will come.
Breadstix009@reddit
Pic 16, damn near perfection!!!
Breadstix009@reddit
Wish it was a little higher though. Maybe add some legs at the bottom
ddrfraser1@reddit (OP)
Nope. It’s perfect. I realize taking all these pictures from his eyes as I did and made the proportions of the room look funny. This is actually the perfect height.
brainbyteRO@reddit
Exactly as a personal LAB should look like ... cozy. You have everything you need there my brother.
Am-1-r3al@reddit
I think i have that black IBM monitor lol
Jshdgensosnsiwbz@reddit
I used to have two of the retro cases you still own, I like to think , That you are the new owner, look after em.

Of course he would have a projector lol
nicmalone@reddit
Now I thought I had a problem until I saw this. Next time my wife complains about "obsolete plastic tat", I show her this and say it could be worse. You are a kindred spirit, my friend.
ddrfraser1@reddit (OP)
Glad I can accommodate! I’ve got people like that I can refer her to. There’s always a bigger fish.
Slappyrad@reddit
That’s so bad ass, I love all the retro stuff :)
Also having a pegboard in there with tools and peripherals is SUCH a good idea!!!
Inspiron606002@reddit
Love that early 80's Panasonic mono boombox!
Liquid_Magic@reddit
That case tho… Amazing! That 4500 MHz display on it 🤌😘chefs kiss!
MilkSlow6880@reddit
Lucky! Dig the keyboard collection
FernsTreehouse@reddit
This set up is perfect!!
aktive8@reddit
Cool as shit. If I bring over doritos and a controller can we hang?
ddrfraser1@reddit (OP)
100% I’m in TN
raindropl@reddit
I don’t have friends that like retro stuff. I’m a black sheep!
ddrfraser1@reddit (OP)
Mine don’t really either. I just pitch retro LAN party and their eyes go big and we proceed to have outrageous amounts of fun.
raindropl@reddit
Nice! What games do you normally play at lan parties?
ddrfraser1@reddit (OP)
CS 1.6 Halo CE Quake II UT C&C
Shadow Run is on the list For XBOX system lol parties we hit up Halo 3, Reach and 4 and COD MW 1,2 and 3. Some Gears of War
raindropl@reddit
Halo! Yeah
ORA2J@reddit
What's the case in pic n°8 ?
ddrfraser1@reddit (OP)
It was an old IBM RS/6000 server. It is now my gaming rig. Runs on a ryzen 9 and a 7900 X. The power switch still works. It operates on a relay that cuts the signal off after one second so it doesn't immediately shut the PC down again. Flipping it down sends a macro to windows to begin to shut down sequence. The key lock puts in a macro that Punches in my password and hits enter.
twoticksred@reddit
Very cool!! "Everything is figureoutable" is a great mantra too!
OkArcher5827@reddit
Is the a VIC20 I spotted in pic 17
ddrfraser1@reddit (OP)
Yep! It’s the one from retro games though.
OkArcher5827@reddit
I’m never knew they did a rebuild of that. Not that I’m actively looking but that was my first “computer” I played on my dad was given one. I’m looking now tho
RandoReddit16@reddit
FYI, portable A/Cs are terrible... You'd be better off with proper window units if you need added a/c or a mini-split.
ddrfraser1@reddit (OP)
We have mini splits in this section of the house. They broke temporarily and I just haven’t gotten the portable A/C unit out yet because lazy.
Commodore_03@reddit
What is that TANK in the 7th imagine?
ddrfraser1@reddit (OP)

It's really a thing of beauty, and definitely inspiration for my future builds! Thanks for the response!
digital0ak@reddit
OMG! I don't know what to touch first!
No_Letterhead_3440@reddit
Neat!
Beautiful-Most4670@reddit
Wow, what an incredible collection, here in Brazil it's very difficult to get things like this, I have a small collection of smartphones and notebooks, I got them all for free, but if it were at least feasible to buy some of these things my collection would already be much bigger, anyway, congratulations.
charlespribz@reddit
What a sweet setup! Love it! You have the perfect set of machines/stations! I’m holding out for my next home with a basement lab. Would love to do something similar and network my machines for some LAN fun. Awesome!
ree2_@reddit
Wow, I want such place 😍
Thick_Temperature794@reddit
Omg! This is exactly how I want to set up my game room!!!! I have to same, story and a half house with the slanted ceilings. Look at all that room!!!
llcdrewtaylor@reddit
Iv'e been staring at these pics for like 10 minutes looking at all your diff retro tech. I love this room. So much cool stuff. I had a room like this a few years back, but a poop flood took it all away from me.
ddrfraser1@reddit (OP)
That. Sucks. Sorry :(
ducksauz@reddit
Love this collection. Cool that you've got a nice place to have your own little retro museum.
In picture 9, what's the white keyboard or keyboard/computer in the bookcase with your game dvds and controllers?
ddrfraser1@reddit (OP)
That is my beloved Beamspring! It was a keyboard built by IBM in the 70s for their terminals. Had even more delicious tactility and better build quality than their model F keyboards, which is saying something!
ducksauz@reddit
Oh yeah! Those old 3270 and 5250 terminal keebs are legendary.
CommodoreSlowpoke@reddit
I love this place because I can tell how much the space has been lived-in and had consideration put into laying it out. And I can only dream that one day I'll be able to cobble together enough free space for laying out my old electronics like this.
md_messer@reddit
A dream
kula009@reddit
the silver rig for xp gaming is sick as f!
ddrfraser1@reddit (OP)
Thanks! They will hopefully all look as good once they're built and setup properly with monitor risers etc.
kula009@reddit
what keyboard is it? looks so sick
ddrfraser1@reddit (OP)
I think it’s the NYM96 from Drop. They don’t sell it anymore, but there are all these very similar replicas. One of them is the YMD – 96. I’ve got Honeywell key caps on it with some pinkish accent keys.
Souta95@reddit
The only thing separating me from realizing a dream like this is my small house.
... someday I shall get something bigger....someday...
OP, I am jealous over the space you have to set this all up.
ddrfraser1@reddit (OP)
Dude, I was where you are for sooooo long. I’ve been planning and strategizing for how to get here FOREVER. You can and will make it happen sometime.
neoraph@reddit
I am so jealous. It is incredible. It can be just a dream for me, my wife will never accept this.
ddrfraser1@reddit (OP)
I spent years pitching an over the garage addition to my wife. We knew we needed a bigger house but doing this with so much cheaper with real estate prices these days. We also got a few extra bedrooms for future kids. Of course, none of this “junk” could be in any of the main areas, but her main concern was that after I built all this, I would never come downstairs. Of course that’s not an issue because I actually like my family :)
Arkenys@reddit
I'm seriously jealous of your frankenpad T25, did you built it yourself ?
ddrfraser1@reddit (OP)
Yes I did! I love this thing. It runs great too after a good Windows 10 debloat :)
Arkenys@reddit
When did you built it and how did it cost ? I looked a bit recently and I could only find Japanese keywords and they were really expensive. If you want to tinker more with I guess you could try to install Coreboot on it.
ddrfraser1@reddit (OP)
I haven’t done core boot yet. I think I just got lucky actually. I ran into someone online who had gathered up all the pieces minus the T480 and he realized he didn’t have time to put it all together so he sold it and I assembled it all.
RetroGamer87@reddit
This is making me think I need to put all my stuff in the same room
ddrfraser1@reddit (OP)
It was a problem for me. Before we built this addition above the garage I had stuff in the rec room, in the spare room, my work from home desk was always a disaster, and our garage was always full. My wife is much happier now and the kids don’t break stuff.
monkeyboywales@reddit
What's the keyboard under the widescreen on the rhs?
ddrfraser1@reddit (OP)
Ducky shine 7 with Honeywell key caps and some green accent keys. I think I’ve got Hako trues in there. Nice medium switch with soft but solid tactility.
sound_scientist@reddit
You love those tactile keyboards huh.
ddrfraser1@reddit (OP)
si. Keyboards were actually my gateway drug to get into vintage computers.
sound_scientist@reddit
I like them too.
Artistic_Evening_823@reddit
You ever used that curved monitor for a while, and then moved over to a flat monitor and gotten the "Reverse curve" effect, its like an optical illusion where flat monitors look like a convex bubble in the middle once your eyes adjust to a curved monitor :)
Happens to me all the time, because I Switch between curved and non curved.
ddrfraser1@reddit (OP)
Huh, I have never heard of that and I’ve never experienced it either. The way I’ve got my dual monitor set up the edges sort of curve in a little bit so maybe that helps?
gkreymer@reddit
You have a problem, lol. Seriously, nice collection. Is that extra AC because you like to keep everything on all the time or is your retro “cave” is in the attic where the ambient AL summer temp is 100 degrees ?
ddrfraser1@reddit (OP)
Haha, A/C broke so I brought that in temporarily and I just haven’t put it away yet.
Arael15th@reddit
That's a cute lil Panasonic mono boombox you got there!
ddrfraser1@reddit (OP)
Haven’t tested tapes in it yet
Deomiel0106@reddit
why is there something special about a room where you can reach the ceiling, I dont know am I the only one who is like that?
QuantumGarage@reddit
Thats an awesome collection and a great working space to use them in.

Everything is Figureoutable. That was the icing on the cake with this one.
ChaiLife64@reddit
Totally knarly dude. 😎
DrakeonMallard@reddit
Looks sweet. A few Amigas in there and it would be perfect.
ddrfraser1@reddit (OP)
Yes. Goals. I need to get one. Not sure if I’ll go with the 500 or the 1200 though. I want it to run everything so I guess the 1200?
DrakeonMallard@reddit
An a1200 with 4MB fastram and an IDE to CF card reader would be ideal. Stock A1200 does have some back compat issues with a small number of floppy titles. A 1200 like above lets you run everything using whdload patches, a superb elegant solution.
Baloney_Bob@reddit
Wow this is amazing love what you did with everything!
jyc23@reddit
It gets better and better the longer I look! Love it!
Mr_Gibbys@reddit
That old lian li case is sick. Love the whole setup.

AggravatingSail2543@reddit
Wow!!! Love it!!!
IamThe6@reddit
Dude the only thing missing are the mini-bar and the amateur radio shack!
ddrfraser1@reddit (OP)
I would love to get into amateur radio! I’ve thought about what my set up would be like, but I need to do more research and get some of this stuff more organized before delving the next hobby ha ha. Now, that thing that looks like a Marshall speaker stack is actually a mini fridge so I’m not too far off with the mini bar :D

ddrfraser1@reddit (OP)
It was dead Jim. Will it help you to know the toggle power switch and lock key are fully functional?
kissmyash933@reddit
Of course! I’m glad you still have the box itself around at least. The machines in this form factor all seem to be dead, including my own. :(
majestic_ubertrout@reddit
That Lian Li case with all the custom drive bay inserts including the LAN party one is amazing and would have been amazingly expensive back in the day. I have my original PC60 still but never sprung for the drive bay covers.
ddrfraser1@reddit (OP)
I’m a firm believer that every drive bay must be filled.
DeepDayze@reddit
