What should I do my name get messed up by the lease company?

Hello there,
I recently leased a car from Volkswagen Finance in Toronto. After that, I noticed that my credit report on TransUnion myTrueIdentity platform had been updated, which is expected - because the lease is essentially a new loan added to my account.
However, I also received an alert stating that I had a new name - First Name "Smith" and Last Name "John". In fact, my legal name had almost always been First Name "John" but Last Name "Smith". This "name change" happened at the same time as VW Finance is posting my record, so I know that this is their fault.
I just have a question: in this case, should I call them to change it? Is it even changeable? Will it have a negative effect on my credit report?
Or this is still fine, because fundamentally, my name still consists of "John" and "Smith", and people would know that this is a mistake when looking at my report?
(In case it matters, it's not actually John or Smith, both my first name and my last name have been quite uncommon in this City, even among people of the same ethnic origin as I am from)

Tell the leasing company to fix their mistake. And if they're inept even more than they are already, you can also dispute the entry with the credit reporting agency, they'll flag it so it doesn't do any harm to your rating.

Call them, they can change it easily.
Thats one of those things you dont want to mess with or risk
