Fine by me, but I wouldn't participate.

Someone in the world would think you are rich moron.
Apprehensive_Name445@reddit (OP)
That's just the classic defense for inaction, there's obviously the biggest fish
TheMikeyMac13@reddit
No it isn’t, in your envy you don’t understand that if you are on a mobile device on Reddit, there are probably at least three billion people who think you are quite wealthy.
Which is why your envy won’t ever be just or a part of the rule of law.
Apprehensive_Name445@reddit (OP)
That's like saying the surfs can't fight the lords because the slaves are less free than surfs. Or the lords can't fight the king because they own the surfs.

I already committed tax frauds time to commit other frauds

Has it been profitable? Are you ...rich?
Apprehensive_Name445@reddit (OP)
It's not profitable yet, you should do it too

If you took all the billionaires in the country and distributed their wealth equally everyone would get like several hundred dollars or something not great like that. It would probably be better used by taxing it properly and then using that revenue to improve standards of living or something like that
Apprehensive_Name445@reddit (OP)
It's alright it's not distributed you just take it and it's yours.
Vivian-Midnight@reddit
I would be a little more discerning than just "rich people." Somebody, somewhere is going to consider you rich and take all your shit.
Apprehensive_Name445@reddit (OP)
Yea but the actual rich people have enough to spare for the rest of us.
MrVacuous@reddit
Out of curiosity what country do you live in?
You are considered high income globally (this includes purchasing power parity adjustment) if you live on more than $50 dollars a day. Upper middle class is considered $20-$50. If you live in the US (or most western nations) you are the rich
Apprehensive_Name445@reddit (OP)
American money don't work in America if you ever heard of the saying. Currency value doesn't equal to cost of living and buying power
MrVacuous@reddit
That is purchasing power parity adjusted (AKA buying power adjusted). If you have an apartment here, refrigerator, AC, etc you are part of the global upper class.
Apprehensive_Name445@reddit (OP)
Some products are expensive in certain countries but are cheap in others, like how TV and radios were considered luxuries back in the days now they are no longer the case. Now there are TV that cost a couple hundreds which is around 20 to 40 working hours. However, other living costs are way higher than it should be like rent and groceries.
AdditionalAction2891@reddit
Rent is true, but groceries are close to the lowest price they’ve been in the history of mankind.
The cost of groceries compared to income in the USA has been going down steadily. The absolute cheapest it’s ever been was just before the pandemic. Then prices spiked faster than income for a while, and now we are back to the downward trend.
Apprehensive_Name445@reddit (OP)
Beg to differ
AdditionalAction2891@reddit
You can have your opinion, but facts are facts.
If you want to say the sun is rotating the earth, or that the earth is flat, you are allowed to do so. But it won’t change the fact that the earth is round and in orbit around the sun.
US household spend less and less of their income on groceries over time. Here are some sources.
https://ourworldindata.org/grapher/food-expenditure-share-family-disposable-income
https://www.bls.gov/opub/mlr/1990/03/art3full.pdf (This one is older)
https://humanprogress.org/trends/share-of-spending-on-household-basics-declines/ This one shows that the share of income spent on food +clothing + shelter has been drastically decreasing since the 1900. But it stops just before the pandemic spike.
Apprehensive_Name445@reddit (OP)
Didn't take inflation into consideration btw. I love your imagination
AdditionalAction2891@reddit
All three references are adjusted as percentage of income.
This is one of the ways you can adjust for inflation.
Once again, once you adjust for inflation/wage growth, food is cheaper today than 20 years ago. This isn’t imaginary, it’s a fact. Nothing to love or hate. Just numbers.
Apprehensive_Name445@reddit (OP)
Have to remember mass production technology, things were harder to produce back in the days.
LamoTheGreat@reddit
Yes, this is the reason it’s getting cheaper over time.
liberal_texan@reddit
I looked up a few charts and you appear to be correct:
https://ourworldindata.org/grapher/food-expenditure-share-family-disposable-income
WhiteBlackBlueGreen@reddit
This just isnt true. I work at a grocery store and prices literally go up all the time. Sometimes prices go down too but it depends on the product, but mostly they are going UP
murphsmodels@reddit
I had a friend who lived in Romania. Electronics there are ridiculously cheap, while clothing and food is expensive. Every Romanian I've ever seen owns the latest iPhone, while I'm stuck with a 3 year old generic Android because I can't afford an iPhone.
Millworkson2008@reddit
Having $100 if your bank account puts you in the top 25% of the entire global population
RogueNtheRye@reddit
Which only makes it that much more insane that some people have hundreds of times as much wealth as an average middle-class American.
ChaseballBat@reddit
Try hundreds of thousands time the wealth. If you saved up 10k you have 100,000x less wealth than a billionaire.
RogueNtheRye@reddit
Yeah this
LambDaddyDev@reddit
Didn’t you read what he wrote? He has enough for the rest of us, steal from OP!
drwicksy@reddit
Maybe in actual money, but short of a mob storming a bank headquarters and somehow gaining access to their servers to change the computerised numbers that equal the rich persons money value, along with accessing their stocks etc that rich people often keep to diversify their money, you'll run out of physical shit to steal from rich people fairly quickly if ALL poor people rush their homes.
Myrvoid@reddit
Is this the trickle down economics?
Extension-Refuse-159@reddit
Closer than what is more usually described, which would be better named gush up economics.
Megalocerus@reddit
All the nice countries of the world protect property rights. In the lawless one, the rich people tend to have enough protection, and the unrich are just prey.
_JustThisOne_@reddit
Its the circle of life bro. If we all steal from everyone then the diffusion of wealth will become high.

Steal what? All the valuable assets like property, stocks and such aren’t exactly things you can throw in the trunk of a car. The stuff that can be stolen is guarded. They don’t need the police. They’re rich because they know how to protect their wealth.

See up until about a hundred years ago this was a viable option to redistribute wealth amongst the people, just take it by force. Problem now is most wealth isn't tangible or carriable.
Even for me, if I were to measure my wealth by the cash I had on hand and at home, I'd be worth about 20 bucks, probably less. Almost all of my cash is in my bank account, and that's just numbers on a screen. Maybe there is a physical dollar for every one I own in my account, but who knows where it is actually sitting and how many security measures guard it and the rest of the money.
If we sacked Jeff Bezos's house we could probably make a few tens of thousands of dollars worth of stuff, but that isn't even a drop in the bucket of his wealth. Most of it is tied up in stocks which is just ownership in a company, kinda hard to steal that. We could try to steal from the company but again you run into the issue of most of their assets probably being intangible items or things that are so spread out or guarded there isn't a viable way to take it.
Apprehensive_Name445@reddit (OP)
That's a good point. How do you ruin it?
joesilvey3@reddit
Honestly, no idea beyond complete and utter forceful revolution, killing or strongarming the rich and powerful to turn over assets and power to the public.
Disclaimer to the FBI this is all purely hypothetical and not anything anyone would actually consider doing... for now.

This will only turn to poor stealing from the poor. Imagine this where are you going to try and steal something inside a mansion with tall gates, possible electric and have guards or the guy who worked 90 hour a week for a month to get a new phone and is enjoying that phone with you on the buss.
KingofPro@reddit
Define poor…..? You having a phone and a computer is considered rich to me……
shponglespore@reddit
I guess you think the average homeless person is rich?
Melodic_Plate@reddit
Like I said the guy on the bus with you. Who worked so much overtime just to get his new phone. I mean you dont know how much work he gets just to get that phone. All you see is a guy on a bus with the latest flip phone worth 2000$.
What I'm trying to get here the accessibility, effort and risk to rob a poor person compared to robing a person who have resources to just make you disappear.
EarningsPal@reddit
How would you steal their property in different locations, stock portfolios, investments in pre-ipo companies, paper metal holdings, and other assets that are not in their homes?
Whatever you can physically steal from them, will probably not change their life other than making them take out some money from somewhere else and buying it all back again while upping their security.
Sweet_Speech_9054@reddit
Luigi Mangioni had a similar crazy idea.

Sure. But they don't tend to pay them enough to escape poverty and as a result OP's idea doesn't sound so crazy to me.
