We normally only see lobsters big enough to fit in lobster traps. But once they're bigger, the sky's the limit.

It's not really accidental when the larger lobsters that do fit in traps are above keeping size anyway.

A maximum keeping size is relatively new, and after they figured out that bigger lobsters had more high quality babies. They used to think that if they got too old their fertility dropped. Like lobster menopause.
