Temperature in system tray
Posted by chalybeate@reddit | linux | View on Reddit | 7 comments
I'm looking for an app that puts the temperature in the system tray. I have a program called Tray Weather that does just that in Windows. I don't want the temperature to be in the middle panel, it has to be in the system tray. So don't suggest a program that puts it in the middle panel because that isn't what I'm looking for. Is there a program that does this?

Depending on your DE:
Weather O'Clock Extension for GNOME
Weather Widget Plus for KDE
Weather Applet for Cinnamon

That's not what I asked for. I don't want the temperature to show up in the middle pane, it has to show up in the right pane. The weather applet for Cinnamon takes up too much room and isn't in the system tray.

Then maybe you should use a more flexible desktop environment. KDE Plasma allows putting Plasma Widgets (plasmoids) in the system tray just like the normal StatusNotifierIcons and the legacy XEmbed systray icons. And that is supported by the default Plasma weather widget, probably also by the Weather Widget Plus that was linked above.
