Only Tom Cruise tightents a backstay on a winch

Sorry. I've just seen Top Gun: Maverick and the only thing that bothers me is the sailing scene that makes no sense. Maverick was told to tighten the backstay and he pulled a rope that was probably an outhaul. I hate the fact that I notice the stuff :D The movie is excellent go and see it :)

I always love it when a movie shows a boat sailing, but the sails are luffing and the boat is still moving along at 7 knots.

As goofy as it was, the sailing stuff was real.
- the running rigging vs. standing rigging scene
- "Get up there and help guide those slides"
- Pulling on the stays'l boom to help them tack
- The part where Martin forgot to hank on the head sail then gets caught up in the sail. I'm guilty. We're rf now so no worries
- When they get the sailes up for the first time and they're close hauled. The motor was running, but they were definitely sailing. Especially love the shot showing the bow cutting through the waves. They captured the sound perfectly. Yes, they did some continuity issues where they instantly switch from one tack to the other, but they were sailing.
- The part about the water pump was spot on "don't take long showers, it uses up all the fresh water"
- My favorite is when the song 'Jammin' is playing making it sound all happy and the boat is motoring getting bounced around by the chop.
