Ideas for a dressing up a Linux distro to look like something from a 2000s Hollywood Movie?

I've watched a handful of older movies from the 2000s, and I'm quite fond of the style of graphics used for the computer systems, unfortunately such OSes don't exist in reality, but I'd like to set up one to look like it,
The hardware I'll be using is a 2006 Black MacBook (similar to the one used in national treasure II), and MX Linux (though I'm down to try any 32bit distro), if you have any theming suggestions I'd love to hear them!

You want a 3D window manager. Your options include:

FSV is the one used in Jurassic park if I'm correct?
firebreathingbunny@reddit
Almost. It's the unofficial Linux-compatible reimplementation of the SGI-compatible original (File System Navigator).
TechIoT@reddit (OP)
Ah yes! That's perfect, albeit not so "2000s" it's still gonna look pretty good

Enjoy.

Terminal with green font color.
TechIoT@reddit (OP)
Is there a way to set the terminal font color separately from the main text?
I'm sure that's a feature in Ubuntu at least last time I tried.

I'll experiment, but I'll need to bump up the RAM in the MacBook as it's currently being maxed out

TechIoT@reddit (OP)

Enlightenment or something like icewm with tons of terminal windows with stupid commands running is the way to go.

I had only just started the installation without a network connection, I don't think I could've taken a screenshot in the live environment.
ipsirc@reddit
So it's hard, I understand.

Not sure if you're after just a screen filler or something that adds a touch of hacker movies to your WM still offering full functionality.
In the 1st case, just try Hollywood.

As for WMs some have quite interesting themes, then you could add some system monitors such as Conky or GKrellm.

I've read about Hollywood prior to posting, sure makes things look cool. And it was more inspiration.
I'll check out these other Window Managers you've suggested and pick out the one I prefer more.

I've seen a few "kvantum themes"

Make everything green. Done.

I was going more with Blueish

Then theme it around electricity and add some energy bars.

Ooh good idea!

Install CDE or NsCDE

I'll check them out, thanks for the suggestion!

You could start with other desktop environments. Gnome/KDE can be skinned to look pretty primitive.
TechIoT@reddit (OP)
MXes default looks pretty good, which I think is Gnome? (Forgive me, I'm new to MX)
saltyhorsecock@reddit
Get yourself a tiling window manager or a terminal multiplexer, and have terminals open running genact or cmatrix at all times. I'd reckon Hyprland would be good for hamming it up, since you can very heavily customize the appearance of windows there.
TechIoT@reddit (OP)
MX does have the sort of High contrast mode, win9x looking dialogue boxes I'm looking for which is good
I'll check out Hyprland thanks!
