There was an even better one in season 6
vampyre_fan@reddit (OP)
Which one are you referring to?
Jahon_Dony@reddit
Don't remember the name but it was a huge army episode. I feel like maybe it involved Amazons
vampyre_fan@reddit (OP)
To Helicon and Back! Yes, that was another classic.

It’s my favourite episode of Xena, but … I’m not sure the writer is actually a Xenite with lines like this:
thanks to Gabrielle’s abilities as an Oracle (often mentioned, rarely used).
BooBoo992001@reddit
He also refers to Xena as an "Amazon" at one point; pretty sure she'd have a problem with that (especially since Gabrielle is the Amazon in the couple).
Jahon_Dony@reddit
Neither is an Amazon by blood. Both grew up in societies. They are not a "couple"
Agent8699@reddit
Xena would have a problem with it.
Given she nearly wiped out the entire Northern Amazon tribe. And her daughter did the same to the Greek Amazons. And then the reunited Amazon nation was wiped out due to Xena and her role in the Twilight of the Gods.

Well, technically, Gabs is the Amazons' friend. Maybe the writer made a mistake using the singular "Amazon's." 😉

As an oracle, lol?!?

Someone's memory of Xena is held up by hopes and dreams

You don’t like ares

Of course I do?

I was just saying this episode is the spiritual opposite of the movie 300.

I think this is probably everyone's favorite! Which is kind of crazy considering it was basically put together as a "bottle episode" after they blew through a ton of their budget on "The Debt I& II" and "The Bitter Suite": OAAA required a fair number of stunties, but only one extra speaking role, a single interior, and exteriors that could be filmed anywhere, so it didn't require much in the way of resources. Who could've guessed it would turn out this good?
I've said this before, but it was a real shame that the writers, Gene O'Neil and Noreen Tobin (a pair of freelancers who otherwise wrote for Hercules), were never given the chance to write another Xena script, because they totally nailed it. The director, Paul Lynch, helmed exactly one other episode, but that was "Crusader" in S4 -- another episode with crazy good action (that also admittedly goes a little too over the top towards the end, but ya gotta love it).
In fact, I think I may go watch it again right now...

My favorite episode of the entire Xena series! I love this episode so much!

I loved that even when Gabrielle was close to dying she still reminded Xena she owes her new boots. thought it was a hilarious moment on such a powerful ep
Overall-Ask-8305@reddit
For me it’s the episode that encompasses all of the major themes of Xena, including the subtext of their relationship. I loved that they showed Gabrielle having a vision because her gift of prophecy seems to have been forgotten altogether. I just love it. It’s that one episode that I will always watch no matter how many times I see it, I never get tired of it.
jdpm1991@reddit
were they actual visions or just Gabrielle's paranoia?
Overall-Ask-8305@reddit
I do think they were visions, because at that time she was out of it with fever. Gabrielle wasn’t afraid to die, she knew that it was for the greater good if it meant Xena stopped the Persians.

I think it's one of those episodes that you can use to easily introduce someone new to the show
