Hauled a load this week to a jobsite...
They knew the ground was soft, yet didnt think to have a dozer on standby when ordering 160,000lb trucks.
Shut their job down for the whole day

That was probably the workers plan. I feel like they do it on purpose sometimes

Pop the brakes and floor it driver. It's not stuck until it's resting on the frame

Dont wanna tear the ground up more than I need to

Are you percentage or hourly? I’m percentage and there were days when my truck broke down, I worked for 10-15h and got paid nothing

Genuinely curious, but what is the max gross on an 11 axle setup like that. I like learning and comparing to my own, a 7 axle set that I can max at 117k lbs
ilovelabattblue@reddit (OP)
On paper my axle configuration is 159K. We go up to 169k in Michigan depending on the axle set up. You can’t get a 169k axle set up on a log truck though. Either 159k or 164k. I say on paper 159k because state allows 1k leniency per axle so I’m always usually 160k-175k. Sort of hard to know my exact weight when I load up in the woods I don’t know my weight until I get to the mill. Log trucks here are always the heaviest trucks a lot of guys run 180k-200k

I know the game of not knowing your weights at the load site all too well, I run a quad axle dump trailer and if we're doing a demolition job or a contaminated soil move, it's port to port so we don't know our weight till we hit that landfill scale. Thankfully most of our dump wagons are air ride and have suspension pressure gauges so I can do the same basic guessing, and you get pretty accurate with it after a while. Good thing too since we're only allowed a 3% over gross tolerance, so I can take roughly 120k and still stay legal, but sometimes the DOT guys will still give you the stink eye if you're over 118k.
