ULPT Get free food from work

If your office has meetings that they order in for (pizza etc) offer to take control of the ordering. I signed up for rewards points from the food places and now I alternate between 2000 chick fil a points and 200 pizza hut points every week. Now I have a few free emergency pizzas and I never pay when I want to Eat Mor Chikin for a quick lunch.
Cuneus-Maximus@reddit
I did this at my old job. Got so much free Qdoba...
InevitableRhubarb232@reddit
You shouldn’t be putting work food on a personal credit card.
SenyorJones@reddit
But the points
InevitableRhubarb232@reddit
Not worth it. I’m not mixing personal and work finances.
_Mother-Of-Chaos_@reddit
Then def no free points for you 🤷♀️ okay then be on your way
CBarkleysGolfSwing@reddit
It's 100% worth it so long as you aren't a moron
FrankFarter69420@reddit
I get that. But I've worked places that were super cool with any reimbursements. I definitely banked a few extra hundred dollars a year in points.
jeswesky@reddit
I used to book travel for people at work and always gave the option to have the company pay outright or they could and submit for reimbursement. Most opted to pay themselves to get the points.
Cuneus-Maximus@reddit
For free cash back heck yeah. Always got reimbursed in full.
We also had a beer fridge at work, and you could have beer in the office Friday afternoons or other special events. I stocked that, bought it all and got reimbursed. When there were rebates I got to keep those too.
WerhmatsWormhat@reddit
I don’t really see this as unethical. You take on the responsibility of managing the food, and in return you get the points. Seems fair enough.
kikinc14@reddit (OP)
I would see it as more unethical I guess because my boss doesn't know, but I'm using her card for the purchases. If she knew, I could likely see her asking me to use the points towards future orders for the office.
Far_Restaurant_66@reddit
I used the AmEx points once for a vacation. I miss the 90s when this was normal and not a hack.
faz712@reddit
it is still normal
but OP thinks they are the first person to think of this
kikinc14@reddit (OP)
I know I'm not, but not everyone knows about it either, so i figured it would be nice to share
kikinc14@reddit (OP)
I was born 95 so i guess that's before my time 😅 i had an ex that got fired from an office store because people would turn in their ink cartridges and if they didn't want to make an account for rewards he would credit them to his, places can be pretty stingy now
SAJ17@reddit
Yuppp I did so much food ordering for my work during a week long set up that was 2 crews across a 12 hr stretch. So happy to see those points rolling in! I also get reimbursed monthly for mileage & any other office purchases so I try to make the staples runs as often as possible since one of my cards is 5% back on office supplies and my boss is happy not to spend his time doing that. Plus just anything else I can reasonably offer to pay for. Never had any problems getting a reimbursement check promptly!
HashtagDerp@reddit
My old office did this stuff, and on top that they let whoever was ordering use their personal credit card to snatch up wild amounts of points. Free money is nice.
kikinc14@reddit (OP)
Oh I didn't tell my boss lol
HashtagDerp@reddit
But I will if you don't give me 2000 cfa points
kikinc14@reddit (OP)
Check your DMs 😁
NolandCT@reddit
Damn that actually works? I uhhm will do it too if you don't do the thing.....
kikinc14@reddit (OP)
Check your DMs also lol
icefireknight@reddit
There's no way this person is just giving away points.
kikinc14@reddit (OP)
Yes but you're the last one lol
goonalias@reddit
damn, I was too late
kikinc14@reddit (OP)
Sorry i had a lot but I'm not made of points 😅 maybe in 2 weeks
brookefromwales@reddit
I'm just curious how many points you had!
kikinc14@reddit (OP)
I had a few thousand but I'm saving 4k for my bf and i to get lunch tomorrow, I've gotten it up to 12k before, but i like free food lol
goonalias@reddit
lol no worries brother.
Odd-Insect-9255@reddit
I’m so glad you made some people’s days! ❤️ May you receive nice bonus offers from your local CFA!
HashtagDerp@reddit
Haha, you're the best. Gonna get me some waffle fries
1BagLady1@reddit
The boss knows
Princess_Moon_Butt@reddit
This, my company gives the option to book travel, buy food, etc through some company portal, or to submit for reimbursements. Always go for reimbursement. I'll sometimes will offer to do the legwork for groups as well; buy our group's admittance tickets to conferences, buy some yearly licensing for our software, etc.
2-5% cash back ends up adding to a pretty penny when you're booking thousands of dollars.
Even more if you churn the right cards and get the occasional $500 or $1,000 statement credit.
Feisty-Ad3658@reddit
I got a ton of hotel points at my last job for travelling on the company card. I had to register the accounts in my work email but switched them all over to my personal right before I resigned.
I've been gone from there for 3 years and just barely redeemed them this summer.
Highly recommend this.
AttorneyAdvice@reddit
which chain
Feisty-Ad3658@reddit
All of them
southboundclown@reddit
I do this for a dealership of around 45 employees on Saturday’s. I alternate between Chik Fil A, Papa John’s and Jersey Mikes. I let my kids use the points.
Consistent_Trifle970@reddit
I do this with air travel and rental cars.
Ambitious-Advice5683@reddit
Yep, I do the same with food ordering and even travel bookings. It don’t even consider it as unethical now, its a great way to get some returns.
kikinc14@reddit (OP)
I had an ex that got fired from an office store because people would turn in their ink cartridges and if they didn't want to make an account for rewards he would credit them to his, places can be pretty stingy now
AttorneyAdvice@reddit
this is standard for all minimum wage retail workers. you can't scan your rewards account if they say no. otherwise you can eat for free everyday at Vons
Ambitious-Advice5683@reddit
damn! didn’t know these hacks could get actual problems🙃
ew__david_@reddit
Not unethical, but charging all work expenses and travel to my personal credit card and getting reimbursed (instead of booking through our travel agency) has earned me a wild amount of points.
friedricekid@reddit
i have a friend who was the CFO of a startup that blew up and he was earning hundreds of thousands of points a month on his credit card before they changed it over.
InevitableRhubarb232@reddit
Stupid dominos caps the points per order the same if you get 2 pizzas or 20.
kikinc14@reddit (OP)
That's when you do multiple orders
InevitableRhubarb232@reddit
It’s capped per day not per order.
AttorneyAdvice@reddit
that's why I schedule work parties for 4 people at a time for 3 weeks straight. work smarter not harder.
kikinc14@reddit (OP)
Oh yeah that's ridiculous, pizza hut ftw
InevitableRhubarb232@reddit
Pizza Hut is gross through
kikinc14@reddit (OP)
Maybe just location, where I'm at Dominos is normally below papa John's and pizza hut
InevitableRhubarb232@reddit
Dominos isn’t great either 😂 but is cheaper
HeyyyKoolAid@reddit
The administration side of my work orders specialty catering for their BOT meetings. I'm not involved in the meetings in any way but I get fed the leftovers when they're done. I may not get the points but I'll never turn down free food.
HackMeRaps@reddit
I do this for school related things, but more so on my personal credit. Are for cashback.
I get 5x the AMEX points which can be worth about $0.02/point, so in reality I get 10% cashback.
I have to order $2000 of pizza several times a year and it works out to over $1600 in travel a year just for ordering pizza.
BildoBaggens@reddit
I'd get amex but costco doesn't take it.
JulianVanderbilt@reddit
Now imagine offering the bite the bullet and book corporate travel for large groups on your chosen hotel loyalty system.

Back in my admin days I did this a lot. But to take it further, I was also tasked with organising all company travel. This was around 2009 and one of the airlines that the company preferred had a policy that only the person who booked/paid could cancel/make changes, and when credits were issued, they had to be in my name. Not a big deal since I’d usually use the credit to book the next persons flight. I’ll mention that my boss was an absolute C.U.NextTueaday, constantly berating me and calling me names. So when I finally snapped and walked out (after 2 years of abuse), I had a $1700 flight credit with the airline. I didn’t say anything to the employer, but did try having the airline transfer the credit to someone at the company, but they said they couldn’t do that. So yeah, I took a few trips the following year, nobody was the wiser.
kaett@reddit
this is one of the secrets of the admins. there's a reason i always offer to do all the catering orders... the site i used offered either discounts on future orders or various gift cards. i have literally racked up thousands of dollars in rewards points over the years.
dirtymoney@reddit
I did this when subway had those little stampa you put on their leeward cards
amanuensisninja@reddit
When I used to do production work on big theatre shows in Chicago, I would always offer to do the Starbucks runs, which everybody paid me for in cash, Venmo, etc, while I collected the stars; the only downside was my profit was in shitty Starbucks products.
Far_Restaurant_66@reddit
In 97 I had a corporate AMEX, I also managed my boss’ corporate AMEX. Companies weren’t really paying attention to that kind of stuff. My boss didn’t really care about his AMEX points so long as he could get first class upgrades with them. Other than that, he just told me to do whatever I wanted with them. And that was usually cash them in for AMEX gift cards.
aliscool2@reddit
I retired from microsoft 2 years ago, this was one of my hacks. I expensed conference meals on my corporate AMEX and got points for the credit card as well!
I used to be swimming in papa John's and other points.
