What is the scariest UK advertisement you have seen?

As its nearing spooky season, I would love to hear about the scariest / creepiest UK ads that you remember. Personally two that I saw many decades ago still stay in my mind. One was a road safety ad, where a young teenage girl is on MTV Cribs, and she says 'come and see my pool', and then there is a jump scare to her in reality, crossing the road and getting hit by a car. The other one was a NSCPCC advert with a ventriloquist doll sitting at a dinner table with her family. That literally paralysed me with fear, and I couldn't watch adverts for at least a year in case it would come on.....
pusopdiro@reddit
This Fire Kills ones in the early 2000s scared me shitless. Had little five year old me checking every night to make sure there was nothing outside my door and the hall windows were open.
Are there still public information films at the moment? I haven't seen any in ages, but then I mostly watch streaming without ads.
crucible@reddit
Think! still run campaigns but I haven’t seen any on TV recently.
AnOtherGuy1234567@reddit
AIDS: Don't Die of Ignorance
And a road safety ad, where the unrestrained child in the back seat morphed into a baby elephant. To show that in a crash a child being propelled forward effectively weighs as much as a baby elephant. IIRC the voice over was about the mother getting killed by her daughter.
crucible@reddit
The voice over was from a different PIF.
This is the elephant one
Ancient-Cow-1038@reddit
Short film, rather than an advert, but The Finishing Line is fucking mental. Made in the 1970s (of course) and basically sees a bunch of kids getting chopped up and generally smashed by trains.

This Northern Irish drink driving advert is brutal… it stays with you

Vault-Dweller1987@reddit
If any Northern Irish advert stays with you it’s the classic Cats in the Cradle terrorist advert. People are always shocked that when I show them this and have to tell them that yes it was a very real advert on our TV during the evening.
crucible@reddit
That was on Tarrant on TV in the early 2000s, IIRC.

thats a great advert i just watched it

The Irish ones are well horrific.
I remember the one where the kid isn't wearing a seat belt and kills his mum too.
maccathesaint@reddit
I'm Im Northern Ireland and most of our road safety ads are made in conjunction with the ROI for obvious reasons.
I did not know that they weren't on in the mainland UK and when my buddy from London saw one when he was here (specifically this one he was just "what the fuck is wrong with you guys"
These have been normal to me since I was a kid!
I think we're all pretty desensitised to stuff, especially in the North and again, for obvious reasons lol
puca_spooka@reddit
I knew the one you were linking to was either going to be the car barrelling into a bunch of kids or the couple getting crushed into each other by a car ramming them into the wall they’re leaning against… those ads used to be played on TG4 right before the kids shows started!
maccathesaint@reddit
Bloody hel! They're post watershed only here I think lol

Years ago phones 4 u or carephone warehouse did a creepy horror girl thing t kept flashing up and scared the fuck out of me. Basically for 1 second every other ad until the end it would advertise them but spaced over an ad break
Acceptable-Trash8861@reddit
That was Phones4u. I briefly worked in the complaints department there and the amount of complaints we got was horrific.
Although one funny one was a mother complaining that her daughter was being bullied at school because she looked like ‘Scary Mary’ from the ad.

TheCammack81@reddit
IIRC that Rabies PIF had footage of a real person dying of the disease. I haven’t seen it in years and I’ve no intention of doing so now.
IvyKingslayer@reddit
There was a car safety one, about how she knew the person who killed her and you think it’s the car they crash into but no it’s her son in the backseat who wasn’t wearing a seatbelt.
I mean I guess it worked? Because I’m in my early thirties and I put my seatbelt on as soon as I get into the car.

There's an add that's been living in my brain for close to 30 years and I've never been able to find it again. It was about road safety. This boy, around 10 or so was playing on his gameboy or something like that. You get a shot of him walking and then a shot of a car zooming along a motor way. But the car was depicted as is it was part of the road. Like those Tom and Jerry cartoons where Jerry is crawling under a rug. Like the car was UNDER the road. There are a few back and forth shots of the boy and the car, then a close up on the boys terrified face, then a Birdseye view of the boy laying face down on the road. I have looked everywhere for this add and I can't find it for the life of me.

K-Fee Advert from the 2000s
TheNathanNS@reddit
To add on for those who see this and may not know what K-Fee is, it's a German coffee company who had an entire ad campaign centred around jumpscares, which apparently aired across Germany, UK and Ireland, where the ad would be a relaxing, calm scene then a zombie or gargoyle would jump and scream, before the tag line of "Ever been so wide awake?? K-fee"
It's a very popular screamer prank, often called "Ghost Car" where there was a car driving down a green countryside, when the zombie pops up and screams. The jumpscare itself was reused in a lot of internet screamer pranks around the mid to late 2000s too.
If that wasn't bad enough, they also had RADIO ads, which masqueraded as investment services and santa talking about Christmas before a deafening scream plays out of nowhere.
The ads ended up being banned because of shocking content, but it's still talked about today and even for it's time it appeared on Tarrant on TV.
