Dude, Where’s My Drummer? A lot of major rock bands lost their percussionists this summer. Why?

gardening accidents, choking on someone elses vomit, spontaneous explosion on stage, eaten by sharks
GrumpyCatStevens@reddit
Dozens of people spontaneously combust every year. It just isn't widely reported.

You can't really dust for vomit

Such a good joke and such an absurd joke.

"The authorities said to best leave it...unsolved."

BK_0000@reddit

And you don’t actually have to work

Drummers were tired of being low man on the totem pole. :)
Kodiak01@reddit
Q: What does it mean when the drummer is drooling out of both sides of their mouth?
A: >!The stage is level.!<
Troublebot23@reddit
This is exactly what I’m talking about. :)
Kodiak01@reddit
Q: What do you call someone who hangs around with musicians?
A: >!A bass player.!<
TheHoodieConnoisseur@reddit
Flea has entered the chat and would like a word with you
avburns@reddit
Everyone knows Flea is a trumpet player who reluctantly plays bass.
Kodiak01@reddit
Q: Why did Flea bring a ladder to the concert?
A: >!Because he heard he was going to be hitting the high notes!<
TheHoodieConnoisseur@reddit
Trash talking The Great One will get you voted off of GenX Island
Kodiak01@reddit
Why would Mike Merritt do that to me? He's a cool dude.
Kind_Double_661@reddit
Q: What do you call a drummer without a girlfriend?
A: Homeless?
Q: What are the last things a drummer says before being fired?
A: "Hey guys, I wrote some new material."

Dunno, Matt Cameron was a better musician than most of Pearl Jam.
Only slightly /s lol
Troublebot23@reddit
I love Pearl Jam. Listened to Ten so much I wore through the tape. But any band that goes through so many drummers kinda raises a red flag for me.
allegate@reddit
Tbf he was drummer for the majority of the time, 98 to 25.
Troublebot23@reddit
Which I think says more about Matt than it does the band. :)
punkdrummer22@reddit
Umm you know the bass players exist right?
CleverNickName-69@reddit
For real though: I bought a drum set during Covid because learning another instrument seemed like a good way to pass the time during lockdown. It was good fun and moderate exercise.
The problem was that it made my old hands hurt.
If you saw any video of The Police reunion tour a few years ago, you might have noticed that the great Steward Copeland wears padded gloves when he plays now. Drumming is hard on the body.

paywall...so who is exactly is missing?

Bones and joints wear out over time. Inflammation and going deaf.
