Discussing at work about when a pint just feels right. Airport pints or a train tinny is a popular one. Lunch time at work is a beauty aswell however the down side is you just dont want to go back to work at all.

I had a couple of a beers on a big speedboat travelling from island to island through Indonesia recently. Not technically pints but sunny top deck boat beers at 50mph are pretty hard to beat I reckon.

The first pint in a sunny beer garden really hits the spot
areallyshitusername@reddit
Yep. Watching the water droplets drip down the outside of the pint glass as the gases inside rise to the top while the sun is beaming through the beer illuminating and elevating the shade. There’s no pint like it.
DanThaManz@reddit
This is some poetry!
uGRILAH@reddit
That’s the one. If you’re with someone you love and the beer garden is busy - and you’ve found a spot where you can sit and smoke (maybe) and people watch.
That’s the best pint.
Wonderful_Falcon_318@reddit

Late afternoon, after a load of sweaty gardening. It really makes you feel like you’ve earned it. Bonus points if the kids can be disappeared for a bit while you drink it in relative silence.

Absolutely this one for me. Around this time of year you start wondering when the last will be, and then when spring starts to come around, lovely stuff
ButtercupBento@reddit
Yep. There’s something about that that’s special
Second best pint is the one when I’ve got a seat around 5pm where I can watch people on their journey home from work knowing that I’m sitting having a pint watching people coming home from work. I do like a good watching seat

The "completion" pint after you have got a job done.
Finished a hellish day at work? Have a pint. Been out in the sun doing physical work for a while? Have a pint. Finished a chore you were putting off? Pint Long walk? Pint.
It is just more satisfying.

I drink two pints in the morning, I drink two pints at night. I drink two pints in the afternoon, it makes me feel alright.
I drink two pints in times of peace, and two in times of war. I drink two pints before I drink two pints, and then I drink two more.

Cold, crisp lager or cider in a pub garden on a hot day.
Stout in a city pub or ale in a country pub on a miserable, freezing cold day.
Any beer in the restaurant carriage of a long distance train abroad. Means you're mid holiday, and on the way to explore a new place. Likewise the first drink you have when you arrive in a new city/country.
The first pint with a mate you've not seen for ages.
A cheeky pint when it feels like you shouldn't be there, lunch time pint on a normal working day, day drinking during annual leave, cutting shopping short to nip into a pub etc.
jevawin@reddit
Mega bike ride. Get a nice smooth ale and the menu. Start salivating about the food while enjoying the pint. Oof.

Usually a can rather than a pint, but I love cracking that first train beer on the way to some kind of fun event.
Close second is the first train beer on the way back from a hard day at work.

The third one of a day drinking sesh when the sun is shining in a pub garden and it’s not even 2pm.
chasimm3@reddit
Whatever the context, the 3rd pint is always the best. The first is a taster, you get a nice feeling but the anxiety is still there in full force.
The 2nd pint you're feeling better, you've committed to a night out and thinking about how you're going to get home later on.
But the third pint, that sweet drink when shared with others says "fuck it, I'll sort that out later, I'm doing this now and I don't want to stop". It's the commitment pint, the deciding pint, from when it hits your lips you're in.
Then 16 hours, 12 pints, 4 shots, a Jaeger bomb and a kebab later, you'll rue the existence of the cursed 3rd pint.
Mispict@reddit
Number 3 is the decider. If you have another after that, you're out for the night. If you stop at 3, go home and get something for tea, you're good as gold the next day
98.5% of the time, I'm in the first category.
Amazing-Heron-105@reddit
I'm locked in at the 3rd pint. Never been much good at a couple of pints then off home unless I'm eating.
Enigma1984@reddit
Absolute tipping point, you are totally right. Once the 4th pint lands anything could happen. It's also the moment where you need the most self control. It takes a lot of mental strength to leave the pub with three pints in you and no more.
Mispict@reddit
4th is decision made.
I rarely go home after that thoroughly lovely third. That's when everything softens and glows warmly. When I do manage to go home, I'm extremely smug the next day.

Oh hell yes, we don’t go to the pub much in summer but the rest of the year, we go a fair amount for one or possibly twoTake the hound out for a trot and then to a pub for a beer and hopefully there will be a fire lit in said pub. The dog knows the pubs we go to and will try and drag us in (really) and even those she doesn’t know which is a mystery. A few weeks ago husband took her somewhere unfamiliar and wasn’t thinking of a pint, walked past a pub door and dog was hellbent on getting in there, of course he obliged. As an aside beer of choice is Guinness.
Odd_Cryptographer941@reddit
Your dog probably recognises the smell of beer and react accordingly.

I walked 27 miles along a canal path on the Bank Holiday, having only planned to do about 10-14. I made my finishing point a pub on the canal and my word that was the nicest pint I've ever had. Also the best ever pint of water so I was probably rather dehydrated.

Deaf_Nobby_Burton@reddit
I’m a fan of all the classics, there are specific airport, post-decorating and at the end of a stressful week at work Friday evening pints that I can still remember and taste now, years later.
For the airport pints, what I’ve found as a man getting older that takes them to the next level is the first airport stag do pint. It combines so many elements of the perfect pint, and that anticipation and excitement as you all meet up and sink that first pint at 6 am is next level.
Also, one that has crept up on me lately is the unexpected solo pint, something about it feels so good. For example the other day I was meeting my other half and some friends after work on a Friday for a meal, but I was already working in the place we were meeting. I had 45 minutes on my own so wondered round and found a nice pub, it was a pint I wasn’t really expecting by the peace and relaxation it brought were amazing.

When I am hot, and it's been bloody hot, and I have done something to "earn" it (either survived work or something similar) or if its something to celebrate like finishing work for a long weekend, or I am off out later with my wife
When work is done, and I am hot and sweaty, bonus points if someone else pours it, but makes a bit of a mess and it needs a minute to settle. It has to be cold and there has to be two. The first one, I lmwait a minute whilst I decompress from whatever shit I had to deal with and then, drink it in one long slow go. The second one gets savoured, whilst I think. Cider works very well sometimes. It depends on my mood.
Have you seen the film Ice Cold in Alex - specifically the end in the bar? It feels like that.

All pints that are earned. An unearned pint isn’t the same.
The first pint after doing some manual labour where you’ve achieved something tangible.
The first pint after a victory in team sports. You’ve came together as a collective to achieve something.
The first pint after a good walk in the countryside. Country inn, fire on.
RockNMelanin@reddit
The first pint before watching any live sport or at a gig!

Autumn has only just arrived, you’ve gone back to your home town, one of your old buddies happens to be around too. Hit your old fave pub, drink whatever they recommend, outside bench and a single cigarette.
BadBassist@reddit
Was having an argument with my friend whether our favourite beer was 'free beer' or 'cold beer'.
Ultimately it came down to 'how expensive is the cold beer?' Vs 'how warm is the free beer?'
In short, my answer is fhe post work, sunny garden, cold beer.
WotanMjolnir@reddit
A sunny early evening in a hot July, just got the coals burning in a chimney starter and waiting for them to hit cooking temperature, sitting in my quiet back garden with just birds and a cold one. Literal heaven.
Ravo93@reddit
Whenever the first proper warm day of the year is, a pint in a beer garden that day is wonderful
Alternatively I like to swing by my local once I've finished work for the year as the company I work for closes from Christmas till the new year.
richbun@reddit
Any unplanned, spur of the moment, "quick pint?"
CatFoodBeerAndGlue@reddit
It feels wrong to say this, but the first pint at a wake always hits different.
I think it's because you're often trying to stifle the grief during funeral to keep yourself together but that first drink at the wake loosens you up and you can let it out more.
presterjohn7171@reddit
That first pint after manual work in the heat when you have not been able to hydrate properly during the day. Ice cold Cider for me is just magical.

I've tried so many beers, lagers, ales, stouts and whatever else comes in a pint, I just can't seem to find one that I like. It all tastes awful to me. I love drinking, but if it comes in the form of a pint or a half, I probably will leave it.

There's a place as you come off Snowdon on the Llanberis Path (the most boring one btw). It sells proper farmhouse cider in bottles. I've been there twice on sunny days and it's a fantastic way to finish the walk. Googled the name, it's called Penceunant Isaf.
zoehester@reddit
Yea, this is mine too. It’s a bit too hot, your feet are slightly burning and you see that cute little country pub. Bliss.

Possibly stretching the definition of a pint as it’s often in a can but the first pint at a music festival after you’ve lugged all your stuff in and finished pitching the tents and now you can get fully stuck in to the weekend
Geek_reformed@reddit
Ooooh tricky. The first pint is always the best pint regardless of the situation (unless maybe the beer is particularly bad).
The best situations are in the beer garden on a sunny afternoon.
In a nice warm pub (open fire preferred) on a cold winter night.
That first pint after a good long walk or bike ride.

I’m riddled with sufficient illnesses and conditions that I am often too fatigued to do much of anything after work and even on weekends I spend a lot of time just sleeping or reading.
So on those rare occasions that I wake up feeling refreshed, with no aches and a general sense of wellbeing, well on those days the first pint tastes magical. It means that I have made the effort to get up, get showered, get dressed, and go out and socialise.

Myself and a friend meet and catch up usually once a year, sometime during the week or two before Christmas. There’s a place on Smithdown Road in Liverpool that opens midday on the weekend, and that’s where I discovered my most mystic pint.
A walk through part of Sefton Park on a damp cold morning sets the mood, a coffee from any of the early open shops on Lark Lane, then a walk back through the park to Smithdown puts me at the Dispensary just as windows are unshuttered.
Inside is simple, wood floors, an unused billiards table and a faint smell of last night. A chat about which lines are working and order before we retreat to the 8’ leather sofa and club chair, with the newspapers we picked up earlier.
There’s no television on, faint curated playlist and chatter as the place opens up. Pints arrive, a suggestion for a nearby brunch place brings a menu and invitation to dine in as this kitchen doesn’t open for a bit.
Such a perfect weekend morning
VodkaMargarine@reddit
The unexpected pint
Like when your train comes up as delayed so you just pop into the pub for half an hour. Or if you're at some family event and you suddenly realise there's a bar. Or you're in a fishing shop in France and you just notice they have a tap of lager next to the bait so you're like don't mind if I do.
