Am I overdoing it? šŖ³

Iām working for a mega and my truck is in the shop for no ac. They wonāt be able to look at it until Friday and Iāve already been down for 4 days. The hotel Iām in seems nice and clean. But today I saw a massive cockroach in the room I was in. I called the company trying to request a new hotel and they said theyād work on it and requested a photo of the bug. It took them two hours to figure they wanted me to request another room in the same hotel. I requested to be moved to a new hotel completely as I donāt want roaches at home or in my truck, they repeated to ask for another room. Is this normal practice more most megas and I should get over it or am I right in thinking they should be providing me a new hotel completely.

Close your hot lines at the engine flowing to the cab until they can repair the diaphragm
FlounderOk4110@reddit
Wish my truck had that....bout to install one myself
sparrow_42@reddit
Are we talking about a Palmetto Bug (the big ones)? Also are you in the south?
I would wager there is not a large building anywhere in the south this time of year without some of them hanging around. Theyāll be in your new hotel too, whether you happen to see one or not.
RemoveFluid7728@reddit (OP)
No it was a larger American roach. Their gross. Iām in the south from up north. Iāve known people to have roaches but never had them myself and just donāt really want them
sparrow_42@reddit
I feel you, friend. I moved to the Deep South from the upper Midwest. Theyāre gross as hell but unfortunately theyāre all over this time of year. Not tryina tell you what to do, just saying we always see them running when walking on the sidewalk this time of year and sometimes theyāre in the house. My gf keeps our house super clean plus we use bug spray and our landlord treats for them, and I still see them. There was a local Reddit post the other day where somebody had bought an ice cream and a roach dropped off a tree right into it.
RemoveFluid7728@reddit (OP)
Damn that would suck for the ice cream haha. I knew they got bad down here just wasnāt aware they were so big haha. If j bring them home Iāll just try to get the company to pay for the extermination as I have proof it would be from here
FlounderOk4110@reddit
Capture several and leave them on your bosses desk with a reimbursement request and receipt for your new hotel room
Ok-Indication-8992@reddit
How do you know it's an American roach? Did you check it's passport?
RemoveFluid7728@reddit (OP)
Yes I held it at gun point and demanded it
Ok-Indication-8992@reddit
Nice
StoneDruid@reddit
if it's a cascadia try this, the blend valve gets stuck, you might have to do it a couple times

No itās an international. Condenser has been replaced and system recharged still nothing thatās why itās at the dealer
FlounderOk4110@reddit
Compressor clutch is poo poo
Cheap_Speaker_5481@reddit
Your stuck unless you flip the bill
RemoveFluid7728@reddit (OP)
I see, I guess if I get bugs I have enough evidence to get them to pay for extermination
FlounderOk4110@reddit
Probably not,but if you live in an area where roaches are as common as the ant.....probably wont get much traction with that plan. Post your pictures on their google maps review as part of your experience with the company, if they cant treat you like a human you could always treat them like any other establishment doing business the wrong way.
mvamv@reddit
That's insane that they're unable to diagnose the AC issue until Friday. It's not a complicated system to troubleshoot. It's either there's a leak, AC compressor clutch needs replacing, or something electrical is not sending signal.
FlounderOk4110@reddit
My AC hasnt worked all summer and every week Im upper 90s -107 degrees. I sweated it out but it fukin burned me out in the process. Finally had to fix it myself. Found out they fixed another drivers AC in a timely fashion this summer......no more Mr nice guy. Shop is always a bunch of know it all "mechanics" that cant seem to fix anything right the first time. Trying real hard to be polite, and kind with these shop idiots but Im real close to embarrassing the guy with all the pictures of his best workš
RemoveFluid7728@reddit (OP)
See the thing is with that is it was at a different shop who replaced my condenser and recharged the system, tested all of the components. And it still blows warm. They even showed diagnostic papers to me showing the preformed tests and they all tested good so it had to go to a dealer. Their guess was something with one of the computers but Iām not sure. Hopefully whatever it is they can fix it fast cause Iām so over being in a hotel
RealSharpNinja@reddit
Sounds like the blendor is stuck mixing heat and air conditioning. If you let the engine completely cool does it behave the same?
RemoveFluid7728@reddit (OP)
No matter what is done it blows hot. Drove Wisconsin->Texas with no ac but I wanted to so Iād get paid for the run. Even when the truck cooled over night after condenser was replaced and system recharged it blowed as if I had the heat on full blast
RealSharpNinja@reddit
Sounds like the blendor is stuck on heat.
ooglieguy0211@reddit
The other option is less likely with a newer truck but my old International Cabover has valves for bypassing the heater core. When they are closed in the summer, the AC works very well, then the valves are open in the winter, the AC won't work not matter how low I turn it, it never gets cool or cold.
RemoveFluid7728@reddit (OP)
Thatās the only thing that could make any sense
RealSharpNinja@reddit
In my previous carrier, I drove an 2024 Intl LT which got debris sucked into the HVAC after the cabin air filter clogged with dandelion seeds and collapsed. That debris would get sucked into the blendor and only allow air to the floor. It would get very hot, very fast. To fix it I had to shut the truck down completely and wait for the debris to fall to the bottom of the blendor, which took time because I believe the plastic developed a static charge and held on to the debris until gravity sapped it all by pulling on the debris.
Naborsx21@reddit
I've never had a dealer be fast with anything. They say they look at it but they don't and just put it behind other shit. Idk
bigpierider@reddit
Probably warranty work...I've had a stealership tell me if u want this done under warranty its gonna be 2 weeks. If ur paying cash we'll have it done tomorrow.
Desperate_Style1547@reddit
Happened to me with my company. Happened on the end of the week said they'd have the shop look at it over the weekend. Turns out nobody looked at it. Had to use a substitute truck for the next 2 days. Was super uncomfortable since I didn't have any of my things with me. When I got back to the term on the second day I decided to give youtube a shot a self diagnosed the issue. Turns out all I had to do was manually reset the hvac system and it was blowing cold again. It was simple really just by holding down both hvac temperature and blower controls down till the light blinked then turn the tractor on.
Never trust the company to get anything done on time. It doesn't affect them if you are either not comfortable or not making money. So long as their product gets pushed and they make money they are happy.
RemoveFluid7728@reddit (OP)
As of a week ago when the truck was dropped at the shop thereās nothing I can do, they wonāt even give me another truck unless the shop says after diag that itāll be a while waiting on parts. We will see what happens I plan to call them Friday as they said otp yesterday that thatās when they can look at it
Desperate_Style1547@reddit
They messing with your money by making you wait. That's straight up disrespect and disregard for your needs and responsibilities
Electrical_Ad_9668@reddit
I had a similar problem this summer with my bunk blowing warm. It took weeks of me bitching until they had a different mechanic look at it. I don't know the details, but he fixed it. The week it was finally fixed, the ac in the office died, and the kid kept going home early cuz he was hot.... KARMA!!!
rcbrown527@reddit
Could be eight trucks ahead of them on the schedule
RemoveFluid7728@reddit (OP)
Called yesterday they said 13
VitoVino@reddit
Before you leave that room thoroughly check everything. You don't want hitchhikers invading your truck or your home space.
Gonzotrucker1@reddit
Was it a cockroach or one of them big wood roaches? Two different creatures. A cockroach is nasty, while those big roaches are just a big bug.
RemoveFluid7728@reddit (OP)
No it was a roach, Iād be okay with a wood roach but not cockroaches
Gonzotrucker1@reddit
Exactly. If itās one roach there is more. A wood roach, or German roach, or whatever people call them are usually alone.
Waste-College2768@reddit
Thatās why I get my own damn room when I break down, mfers have sent me places I wouldnāt dare go with a gun!
keytiri@reddit
How long have you been driving? Could it be user error? I recently got a new make trk (freightliner to peterbilt) and thought the wiper fluid was broken; pressing button did nothing and I had consulted manual too. I added to the shop list and after charging my company an hour of labor for it the tech told me to press the end of the stalk in š¤·āāļø, he said I wasnāt the first.
As for the hotel thing, can you pay and then get reimbursed? Thatās how I do it at mine, theyāve never set a dollar amount and I usually look for $20-40 above the cheapest.
RemoveFluid7728@reddit (OP)
Iāve only been in 3 months, but the first shop couldnāt even get the ac to work after fixing the condenser and recharging the system
Immediate_Regular@reddit
If I found a roach in my hotel room and my company wanted me to just switch rooms in the same infested building I'd be done with that company.
RemoveFluid7728@reddit (OP)
Should be out on December for a local gig
