Tbh I don't understand the desire LQBTQ peoplw have to let everybody know what you like to have sex with. It would be weird for me to walk around in a parade with a megaphone talking about how proud I am to fuck women. A friend of mine told me he was gay and apart from our being completely obvious I'm just like...ok? Why do I need to know this? I've never told you I'm straight... can we finish playing Madden now? Bro, you don't understand our plight. /sarcasm, but I totally get you as a gay person. I spend most of my time with my husband. Who is a trucker, as I find most gay people obnoxious. I don't care who you fuck, you make it a cornerstone of your identity, though, which I find just weird and honestly creepy. Straight people get called out for it all the time when they make sex a major factor of their identity, and so should gay people.

It is not the who you fuck that make a seperate community preferable. I dont dress the same as you, i dont like the same things, i dont enjoy most of the topics "straits enjoy. Most of the people in my life are heterosexual, and a lot of them I have known for up to a decade. One has mentioned their sex life, but in whom they were interested. It does not come up a lot at all. I do not include such things as trying for a child because that is perfectly natural and a process.

Very few LGBTQ people are going to tell you out right who the have sex with, but a friend might bring it up for 2 reasons. A. It is common to discuss interests, hell I have yet to find a guy that didnt comment about some girls figure or some actresses something. You DO bring it up, just not in a blatant way. B. It will eventually be revealed and we tend to try to "rip the bandaid off" so as to get the all too common rejection done while we are in a preferential place to do so.

I'm not like him, don't need no safe sapace and people like him and in spaces like that are annoying as fuck. But... I can explain why "have to let everybody know what you like to have sex with". So first of all, and most importantly, plenty of people who if they knew, they would simply straight up reject you. For what fuck do you need people like that in your life and why would you invest time in such a friendship? So is better to have that out of the way. Or you'd have to live in hiding your entire life watching out on what you say, couldn't be free and honest. Ofc you would never think about it as a straight guy. Not many people who would reject you over being straight and the tiny minority that would ar annoying as all hells individuals to begin with so unlikelly you would ever give them a time of your day to behin with, we all know who they are.

Second reason... you see,.. think about it this way. You're a dude, you like women. That's majority of society, you might have troubles finding one lel, but have plethora of options. Now, as a gay guy, if you're not in like any gay community anywhere, cuz you just normal dude who lives his life and is not obsessed with his identity... what percentage of society is gay? Imagine how hard it would be to find frineds you can talk about gay stuff with more openly and wint more understanding. And ofc a partner. If you're not really into apps and stuff and want it to happen naturally.

We literally are the same as everyone else, but we are hated for existing so a lot of us would rather be around similar people. You may be less judgemental than the average. But many are not. There is FAR FAR more to being LGBTQ than just who we have physical relations with, you dont realise how much you actually DO talk about your interests IRL. There is a wery good chance every person in your life knows at least aproximately what you are into. It is interesting being told no one cares, when the milisecond one steps out of "line" they get called on it and questioned. I did matte blue on my nails and the FIRST day I had 3 people sneer and ask if I was "GaY!" Like really. No one cares... then why ask?

Its because there are aspects of being lgbtq AND a truck driver that are unique to us. We post in non trucker reddits and it clutters that area with truck related stuff that at best they are uninterested about at worst makes more valid topics get buried. We post here and get lots of hate just because we are who we are, no matter the content of our post. I have posted about helping a newb with straps... I got hate I assume because they went to my profile and looked at my post history? Like why?

My brother in Christ, you're in a Reddit that follows the daily life and events of TRUCKING primarily in the US! Please inform me what aspects of Trucking and being gay are so different.

Is it collecting the goods, and the people looked at you funny? Well, maybe don't go around wearing a rainbow pin. You don't need to Michael Scott and declare bankruptcy about who you fuck, 24/7.

Trucking is a pretty masculine work environment; if a male is going around in nail varnish, they will get called out just because it's different. If you paint the target on yourself, expect to catch strays.

Did you fail to comprehend... A. I never said there was anything "different" about the work. I said there are overlaps in topics that are not appropriate for either reddit. B. You overestimate the number of bigited assholes in the world... I have been out as trans for over a year (poorly done for sure on my part, still learning the skills), 99 out of 100 people are lovely, kind, generous, and genuine. Very few even look at ya different. That is what makes those like you stand out.

I do find if funny you say I would stick out due to a rainbow pin or the painted nails but you wear your religion wrapped about you like a safety blanket.

People in this sub can ALSO be in the other sub. I will still be in this one too. Its not divided, its just a seperate space where some people might feel more comfortable asking certain questions. You see this is as something little but I guarantee there have been people in this sub who have wanted to ask questions that they didn't because they didn't feel comfortable asking here. All I did was post about a new group. Literally that was it, and its gotten comments like "hell no" and things you're saying. Truly, why would someone feel comfortable asking certain questions when a place feels hostile towards a group of people?
