We live close to the stockyards and don’t really love driving into Dallas, but it seems like everything is there. Is there anywhere in Fort Worth or surrounding that is worth visiting?
Always fun to go out and eat and try new places, but we want more interesting things to do as well and things to see. Where are the smaller “underground” places and venues? We love concerts, food, activities like lantern festivals, etc.
Where do you go? Pls help, we have run out of ideas.

I have found that Facebook is a good place to start. Just search the area you want to explore and I’ll give you a list of events.

• Sarah’s Place - Casual vibe, but very vibrant and easy to miss spot for karaoke. Even if you don’t like to sing, it attracts a neat array of people and is a lot of fun!
• Pearl’s Saloon - Every Sunday they offer two step dancing lessons for only $5. It’s a smaller, lowkey spot on the edge of the Stockyards and a quaint place to learn compared to Billy Bob’s.
• Communitea at Hao’s Grocery - On Thursdays in the back of Hao’s Grocery there’s a late night tea event where anyone can take a seat at the table, enjoy teas imported from Asia, listen to a DJ and eat dumplings. Very cool, hidden spot to meet new people.
• Tulips and The Cicada - Always reliable venues for live music. Check their social media or calendars to see if there’s any artists of interest.
• Rubber Gloves - This concert venue in Denton is great for the punk/alternative scene if that’s what you’re into and there’s solid restaurants around that area.
Don’t give Dallas a nickel 😉

check out the museums! the kimbell art museum, the aviation museum, and there are some artist galleries, the zoo is great. If I lived downtown, I’d be on the riverside trail every morning too!

It's festival season right now. You'll be able to fill up a lot of weekends with nearby festivals. Grapefest is the biggest one that's up first. Then there will be at least a dozen Oktoberfests - just about every city has one, and they're generally spread out across several weekends.
By then, all the pumpkin themed and Halloween things will be in full swing.
Look for special events at the Botanic Gardens as well.

Check out Denton. It's maybe a little closer than Dallas, but still a drive from Ft. Worth.
