Visiting my girlfriend in her hometown for the first time from St Louis and I've always heard of the legendary Texas BBQ. Burnt ends are my favorite, sausage (đ) is here's, so please give me what ya got.
Staying in Arlington a couple days then Roanoke the next. Not sure what that means to your massive (seriously, wow) "metroplex," but there ya go.
(I told her I'd find a great spot, Reddit, plz)

Hurtado in Arlington is delicious.
Dayne's overall is the best in the area I've had so far. Other votes for LocalCraft in Newark. Hutchins in Trophy Club is great too. 407 wonderful.
Places where you have to wait an hour+ in line are not worth it.
Go after 1:30pm or 2pm if you can.
Call before you go to make sure nothing is out

Thank you for all the information. I will report back with results! đ«Ą

Harris BBQ in Cedar Hill, TX.
St. Louis girl here (what HS did you go to, LOL!) - love TX smoked Brisket which is something I never had growing up in StL. StL has wonderful BBQ pork and of course ribs, with good sauce. Texas style is much heavier on the smoking aspect, cooked low'n'slow, specializing in beef. If done right, you shouldn't even need sauce. Enjoy!

St Mary's! Certified by the South Side! You?

Original Roy Hutchins - on 114 in Trophy Club, which is next to Roanoke. Always a line though, so plan for that.
Mariorules25@reddit (OP)
I will look in to it! If you were planning for the line, what would you do? I've heard about the lines for Franklin (not around there, ik, just heard of it) is it... Comparable?
LR72@reddit
I just know every time I drive by the line is out the door ha! There's also a Hard 8 BBQ (also popular) right in the middle of downtown Roanoke. I'm not a BBQ connoisseur, I think both are good - I just know the Hutchins one is *very* popular. And they do have burnt ends!
SilkenSecrets69@reddit
I enjoy Hard 8 for the steak and the sausage.
Sanchastayswoke@reddit
Goldees but you have to get there hours before they open to get in line, or they will be sold out before you get any.
Super close 2nd is Hutchins in Frisco or McKinney

Hutchins in Frisco or McKinney.
My favorite in the DFW area and I've tried all the big guns around here.

Hurtados in Arlington is Mexi-cue, so BBQ with Mexican flavors. My absolute favorite BBQ is Pecan Lodge in Dallas (Deep Ellum).
cindy6507@reddit

Burnt ends go to heim But terry black is my fave
hoosierAF@reddit
If you Google the Texas Monthly BBQ list that will give you a jump start on a short list.
To me Goldees and Panther City were my favorite spots before I left DFW.
SilkenSecrets69@reddit
My favorite burnt ends are from Heim, I hear Goldees is good! I like Hurtado but have never had their burnt ends.
zuqkfplmehcuvrjfgu@reddit
Exactly! Cattleack is king in DFW, but Heim's burnt ends are without a doubt the best around.
Return-of-Trademark@reddit
Panther City for brisket. Iâve only had burnt ends in 3 places here and the one Iâd recommend is Hutchins in Frisch
Ok_Statistician643@reddit
Goldees BBQ. Theyâve been number one for years. South of Fort Worth. Donât waste your time with the chain places just because they have one in every neighborhood. Most are crap.
lognlan@reddit
I had 407 BBQ today and really enjoyed it.
Pshmurda69@reddit
Shady Oak is a hidden gem, great BBQ and a beautiful place
spacedman_spiff@reddit
Gonna throw a curveball. Â If youâre staying in Arlington, you need to check our Smoke Nâ Ash BBQ. Â Ethiopian Texas BBQ. Â Doubt youâll find it in STL. Â
Mariorules25@reddit (OP)
Oh, wow, thanks for the curveball! Googling, now

From St Louis looking for "legendary Texas bbq"? Just go to KC...
You're visiting for the first time and said you'd pick out the restaurant? That's weird.
Mariorules25@reddit (OP)
Sauced burnt ends are not my thing; simply seasoned, low n "Texas-style BBQ" is what ive (been told) I've had and it was good, I'm just hoping something from the source is even better.
Sorry you can't relate to saying something dumb in the moment to impress someone you like. That's what happened to me. đ€·
Do you think your comment was helpful or do you think it makes you look like an ass?
