You couldn’t get me to touch this even if you payed me.

Who in their right mind would pay for this.

I mean you could pay me, I'm a dirty dirty money whore, you'd just have to really pay me... Big numbers.

Another one at an even more ridiculous price
greatlakesailors@reddit
That at least is a WoodenBoat Magazine "save a classic" candidate. (They've dialled it down lately but the column used to be a good laugh – "Shitbox is a 1929 Herreshoff original once owned by the niece of the stepsister of the president of Bangalore. She's a timeless classic beauty. She needs new decking, 27 of 32 frames replaced, and replanking. The Atomic Four is now more rust than iron and should be replaced. The mast may be too splintered to salvage; she'd do nicely with a new Sitka spruce spar and standing rig. The interior's been gutted since 1996 and is ready to accept your dream joinery.")

That engine! 🤭🫣🫠
jonnohb@reddit
That was once a beautiful boat, hopefully she finds a new steward who will bring her back to her former glory
Breath-Creative@reddit
Given the price asked by the current owner I'd think it's rather unlikely to happen.

When the tide comes in, does this float, or just settle deeper into the mud?
SnooFoxes5258@reddit (OP)
I suspect it’s a part time submarine
sailonswells@reddit
This dude has balls of steel to even ask money for this boat shaped pile of scrap.

I agree with most people that no one‘s going to buy this. Obviously, the person trying to sell it is hoping someone will, but I don’t even think you could give it away.

Job security! 5 years to build a new one from scratch. 10 years to rebuild this one!

With good planning this project could also feed gentleman's grandsons.
NoYouAreTheFBI@reddit
Sander, a Mask a Tub of Epoxy some rollers and you got a revitalised hull, stick and outboard on her and some paint. You got yourself a decent weekend escape.
Fire5hark@reddit
That’s an awesome bonfire waiting to happen
Jager0987@reddit
Wow! That's kinda expensive for firewood.
Weird1Intrepid@reddit
No lowballs, I know what I've got
haberdasher42@reddit
That's not a big project, that's a bonfire and some scrap metal.
tench745@reddit
Yeah, it's only 35 inches long.
teyemanon@reddit
So, it's a model, a small imitation of the real thing...😅
SnooFoxes5258@reddit (OP)
You’d be lucky if it actually caught fire it’s probably so waterlogged it wouldn’t smoulder in hell.
nuttypoolog@reddit
I've seen award winning Chris Craft restorations that looked worse than this at the start. But yeah agreed. Big project.
pedal-force@reddit
At least that would be worth some money when you finished. This would still be trash, just better condition trash.
catsloveart@reddit
Hmm for that price turn it into a unique green house

Man, seeing dead yard boats always makes me a bit sad

Infinite content from this thing do a whole video about fixing one plank rinse and repeat until you have to go back and replace the first one again.

Kishorn is a beautiful, remote area with nothing else to do.
This isn't the big city. There's the huge oilrig drydock thing, there's a scenic road which is full of tourists on summer weekends, there's a few sheep, and there is this 20,000 hour project.
neohlove@reddit
I see this as basically buying the blueprints for a boat.
Some might be usable, most usable only as a template.
I’d consider this for free if I was in a different situation.
Or if I could move it for free I’d consider converting it into a in-law suite in the back or a cabin.
BuzzKiller75@reddit

500 quid for the plans for 'The ship of Theseus' sounds like a bargain.
Travel_Dreams@reddit
510 pounds is not nearly enough to drag this thing to the dump.
If you could burn it in situ, then it might be a better deal. I would ask for 1000 pounds if you can burn it.
sirensintherain@reddit
Also it's in the absolute middle of nowhere in the Scottish Highlands. It would cost a fortune to haul it anywhere, assuming the truck could even get down the little highland roads.

Not bad as a look piece if you just painted it and put it 40 yards off the road lol
SnooFoxes5258@reddit (OP)
If you don’t want it to be functional absolutely just sand everything and coat it in layers of epoxy and a coat of paint and it would be a nice decoration as long as you can prevent further moisture intrusion

PRICE FIRM. I KNOW WHAT I HAVE HERE.
ez_as_31416@reddit
as someone YT recently said, 'boatyards are where dreams go to die.'
If you like projects, and don't want to sail, this is your boat. If you want to sail someday,. this is not your boat. Sometimes cheap is too expensive.
GeoffSobering@reddit
I'd touch it for a living wage + materials until it was done. Blank check time. Could be a nice retirement project.

People need to understand that boats can have a negative value.
SnooFoxes5258@reddit (OP)
At some point they cost more to sell than they are worth and I think this is long past it
NickRausch@reddit
People don't really do the hulk thing anymore, but it is probably the only thing practcial to fix it into. Either that or flip the hull over to use as a shed.
FredIsAThing@reddit

A sailboat that’s also a convertible… pull up to a nice sandbar and she doubles as the bonfire! Just bring your smores stuff
SnooFoxes5258@reddit (OP)
Very inviting gives the boat a very versatile interior
