Recommendations for First AR for Leftie

I have been waiting to get any long guns until I had a proper safe to store them when not in use. I will finally be getting one soon and wanted some recommendations for an AR.

The caveat is that I’m a lefty, so I’d like as many controls as possible accessible while on the left handed shooting position.

I have mainly been eyeing a bare bones Daniel Defense (forget the model number) at my local gun store. I’m sure I’ll be able to find one online cheaper, but the more research I’ve done, the more it seems like there are possibly some better options than DD with DD just being the recognized name brand.

I don’t mind buying parts separately and putting them together. I was prior Air Force and have disassembled and reassembled my fair share of M16’s and M4’s, but most people I know just say to buy a quality, bare bones rifle to start and then modify it to your desires… THEN once I have a reliable rifle, get parts to start building one over time.

My main priorities are quality, reliability, and left hand friendliness. I have a “buy once, cry once” attitude when it comes to tools and firearms, so I’d rather spend and have something that’s going to be a quality tool for the rest of my life.

Right now I’m just a little information overloaded and not as familiar with long guns as I am handguns.

Thanks in advance.
